Development of chemical tools based on GSK-7975A to study store-operated calcium entry in cells. [PDF]
Many physiological functions, such as cell differentiation, proliferation, muscle contraction, neurotransmission and fertilisation, are regulated by changes of Ca2+ levels. The major Ca2+ store in cells is the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Certain cellular

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Immunodeficiency due to defects in store‐operated calcium entry [PDF]
Mutations in genes encoding the calcium‐release activated calcium (CRAC) channel abolish calcium influx in cells of the immune system and cause severe congenital immunodeficiency. Patients with autosomal recessive mutations in the CRAC channel gene ORAI1, its activator stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1), and mice with targeted deletion of Orai1 ...

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Background: Tubular aggregate myopathy (TAM) is an autosomal dominant myopathy that results from gain-of-function mutations in the STIM1 and ORAI1 genes, which encode the two key proteins that coordinate store-operated Ca2+ entry in skeletal muscle and ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Suppression of store-operated calcium entry causes dilated cardiomyopathy of the Drosophila heart
Store-operated Ca2+ entry (SOCE) is an essential Ca2+ signaling mechanism present in most animal cells. SOCE refers to Ca2+ influx that is activated by depletion of sarco/endoplasmic reticulum (S/ER) Ca2+ stores.
