Stability of superconducting strings coupled to cosmic strings [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2012
We study the stability of superconducting strings in a U(1)_{local} x U(1)_{global} model coupled via a gauge field interaction term to U(1) Abelian-Higgs strings. The effect of the interaction on current stability is numerically investigated by varying the relevant parameters within the physical limits of our model.

Heavy Road Vehicle Platoon Control Considering Brake Fade With Adaptive Mass and Road Gradient Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Heavy commercial road vehicle (HCRV) platoons are viable logistic solutions to freight movement. During long haul platoon operation, it is common to encounter roads of different gradients.

The Dirac Sea Contribution To The Energy Of An Electroweak String [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We present a systematic determination of the order hbar fermionic energy shift when an electroweak string is perturbed. We show that the combined effect of zero modes, bound states and continuum states is to lower the total fermionic ground state energy ...

Stability of electroweak strings

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1992
We map the parameter space that leads to stable [ital Z] vortices in the electroweak model. For sin[sup 2][theta][sub [ital W]]=0.23, we find that the strings are unstable for a Higgs-boson mass larger than 24 GeV. Given the latest constraints on the Higgs-boson mass from the CERN [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]] collider LEP, this shows that, if the ...

Stable Longitudinal Control of Heterogeneous Vehicular Platoon With Disturbances and Information Delays

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper presents a robust control method for heterogeneous vehicle platoon subject to varying road slopes, aerodynamic drag, and wireless communication delay. First, a heterogeneous vehicle platoon is built, including parameter uncertainty, equivalent

Mittag-Leffler string stability of singularly perturbed stochastic systems within local fractal space

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2019
In this paper, we define a new type of string stability based on Mittag-Leffler function so-called Mittag-Leffler (p\alpha)-string stability. This kind of stability for a class of singularly perturbed stochastic systems of fractional order will be ...

PL-TOON: A Low-Cost Experimental Platform for Teaching and Research on Decentralized Cooperative Control

open access: yesSensors, 2021
In this paper, we present the development of a low-cost multi-agent system experimental platform for teaching, and research purposes. The platform consists of train-like autonomous agents equipped with local speed estimation, distance sensing to their ...

Metastable Cosmic Strings in Realistic Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We investigate the stability of the electroweak Z-string at high temperatures. Our results show that while finite temperature corrections can improve the stability of the Z-string, their effect is not strong enough to stabilize the Z-string in the ...
