String moduli stabilization at the conifold [PDF]
We study moduli stabilization for type IIB orientifolds compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds in the region close to conifold singularities in the complex structure moduli space. The form of the periods implies new phenomena like exponential mass hierarchies even in the regime of negligible warping.

Spacing Policies for Adaptive Cruise Control: A Survey
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) systems are designed to provide longitudinal assistance for drivers to enhance safety and reduce workload. As the core of all ACC control algorithms, the spacing policy plays a crucial role in various aspects.

Centralized and Distributed Control Framework Under Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Platoon
Platooning vehicles are beneficial in comfortable driving, safety, and enhanced transportation efficiency. Platooning vehicles with cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) mode can potentially result in a small distance between vehicles with assured ...

Stability and BPS branes [PDF]
We define the concept of Pi-stability, a generalization of mu-stability of vector bundles, and argue that it characterizes N=1 supersymmetric brane configurations and BPS states in very general string theory compactifications with N=2 supersymmetry in ...

Bound states can stabilize electroweak strings [PDF]
We show that the electroweak $Z-$string can be stabilized by the presence of bound states of a complex scalar field. We argue that fermions coupled to the scalar field of the string can also make the string stable and discuss the physical case where the string is coupled to quarks and leptons.

Black String in dRGT Massive Gravity [PDF]
We present a cylindrically symmetric solution, both charged and uncharged, which is known as a black string solution to the nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity found by de Rham, Gabadadze, and Tolley (dRGT). This "dRGT black string" can be thought of as

KÄHLER STABILIZED, MODULAR INVARIANT HETEROTIC STRING MODELS [PDF]
We review the theory and phenomenology of effective supergravity theories based on orbifold compactifications of the weakly-coupled heterotic string. In particular, we consider theories in which the four-dimensional theory displays target space modular invariance and where the dilatonic mode undergoes Kähler stabilization.

Current-Carrying Zero Mode for the Nielsen-Olesen String [PDF]
Zero modes of strings in the abelian Higgs model are analyzed. In spite of the fact that the gauge symmetry is not broken in the string center, the corresponding zero mode is shown to exist and to see it one has to analyze carefully the dependence on ...

IMPROVED STABILITY FOR PULSATING MULTISPIN STRING SOLITONS [PDF]
We derive and analyze, analytically and numerically, the equations for perturbations around the pulsating two-spin string soliton in AdS 5×S5. We show that the pulsation in S5 indeed improves the stability properties of the two-spin string soliton in AdS 5, in the sense that the more pulsation we have, the higher spin we can allow and still have ...
