Detection of nimesulide metabolites in rat plasma and hepatic subcellular fractions by HPLC-UV/DAD and LC-MS/MS studies

open access: yes, 2005
Nimesulide (4-nitro-2-phenoxymethanesulfonanilide) is an atypical NSAID lacking a carboxylic acid moiety. It has a good gastric tolerability due to selective inhibition of COX-2.

Interaction of Diphenylhydantoin-4-14C with Subcellular Fractions of Rat Brain

open access: yes, 1972
The mode and site of action of diphenylhydantoin (DPH) in the brain are unknown. We studied the binding of DPH to subcellular fractions of the brain of male Wistar rats, which previously had been injected with DPH-4-14C and killed at intervals.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Behavior of sterols of insect muscle during homogenization and differential centrifugation

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1968
Labeled sterol introduced in vitro into a homogenate of insect muscle became distributed in the various subcellular fractions in a manner similar to that obtained by fractionation of muscle of insects to which labeled sterol had been administered in vivo.

Antigen retrieval and PTEN detection in cerebellar subcellular fractions.

open access: yes, 2013
A. No crosslinking fixation. Histologic samples showing the peroxidase staining pattern of denatured proteins. 100× and 1000× magnifications are indicated at the top of each column. The denaturation was achieved through heating of the tissue, a technique

Turning Unpredictable Biomolecule Adsorption to Controlled Corona Formation: Focus on Carbon Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the protein corona formation onto carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) enhances their functionalities as platforms for cancer theranostics. Here, we reviewed the effects of the intrinsic and acquired properties of CNMs on protein corona formation, the consequent biological and toxicological outcomes, and the strategies to reshape corona formation ...

Bias‐Field Free Single‐Frequency CW‐ODMR of Nitrogen‐Vacancy Centers in Diamond for the Detection of Transient Electrical Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Simplified quantum sensing technique for the detection of short electrical signals occurring in neuronal signaling or bioinspired technologies. We demonstrate a single frequency continuous‐wave optically detected magnetic resonance (CW‐ODMR) approach to sense signals that can be as short as 0.2 ms.
