Neuropsychiatric Symptoms Mimicking Dementia in a Patient Treated With Imatinib

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tyrosine kinase inhibitors are the cornerstone of chronic myeloid leukemia treatment. Newer agents have more potency and a broader spectrum of action, but also a higher potential for neuropsychiatric side effects. We present a case of a patient on imatinib who developed progressive cognitive, mood, and behavioral alterations.

A rapamycin-sensitive signaling pathway contributes to long-term synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Many forms of long-lasting behavioral and synaptic plasticity require the synthesis of new proteins. For example, long-term potentiation (LTIP) that endures for more than an hour requires both transcription and translation.

Enhanced Switching Performance in Single‐Crystalline PbTiO3 Ferroelectric Memristors for Replicating Synaptic Plasticity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrated single‐crystalline PbTiO3‐based memristors with atomically sharp interfaces, well‐ordered lattices, and minimal lattice mismatch. The devices exhibited an ON/OFF ratio exceeding 105, high stability, and rich resistance‐state modulation.

Analysis of the intraspinal calcium dynamics and its implications on the plasticity of spiking neurons

open access: yes, 2003
The influx of calcium ions into the dendritic spines through the N-metyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) channels is believed to be the primary trigger for various forms of synaptic plasticity.

An Ultra‐Robust Memristor Based on Vertically Aligned Nanocomposite with Highly Defective Vertical Channels for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultra‐robust memristor based on SrTiO3‐CeO2 (S‐C) vertically aligned nanocomposite (VAN) achieving exceptional endurance of 1012 switching cycles via interface engineering. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) integrated with S‐C VAN memristors exhibit high training accuracy across multiple datasets.

Developmental and Activity Dependent Regulation of Ionotropic Glutamate Receptors at Synapses

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2002
Glutamate receptors mediate the majority of excitatory responses in the central nervous system. The establishment and refinement of glutamatergic synaptic connections depend on the concerted actions of a-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-isoxazole-4-propionate ...

Elevated protein synthesis in microglia causes autism-like synaptic and behavioral aberrations

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
The main cell types involved in autism spectrum disorders through elevated protein synthesis are not well identified. Here, the authors show that overexpression of translation initiation factor eIF4E in microglia results in autism-like behaviour in male,

Dynamic Control of Synaptic Plasticity by Competing Ferroelectric and Trap‐Assisted Switching in IGZO Transistors with Al2O3/HfO2 Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A frequency‐tunable ferroelectric synaptic transistor based on a buried‐gate InGaZnO channel and Al2O3/HfO2 dielectric stack exhibits linear and reversible weight updates using single‐polarity pulses. By switching between ferroelectric and trap‐assisted modes depending on input frequency, the device simplifies neuromorphic circuit design and achieves ...
