Influence of Steel Recycling on Phase Transformation in Medium‐Manganese Third‐Generation Advanced High‐Strength Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
On the pathway to climate‐neutral steel production, recycling fractions will necessarily increase over time. Since alloying elements will enrich progressively, as they cannot be removed economically from the melt, processes need to be adjusted.

In silico identification of putative promoter motifs of White Spot Syndrome Virus

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2006
Background White Spot Syndrome Virus, a member of the virus family Nimaviridae, is a large dsDNA virus infecting shrimp and other crustacean species. Although limited information is available on the mode of transcription, previous data suggest that WSSV ...

Upstream box/TATA box order is the major determinant of the direction of transcription

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1991
Mammalian gene promoters for transcription by RNA polymerase II are typically organized in the following order: upstream sequence motif(s)/TATA box/initiation site. Here we report studies in which the order, orientation and DNA sequences of these three elements are varied to determine how these affect polarity of transcription.

Core promoter-specific function of a mutant transcription factor TFIID defective in TATA-box binding

open access: yes, 1995
In conjunction with other general initiation factors, the TATA box- binding protein (TBP) can direct basal transcription by RNA polymerase II from TATA-containing promoters, but its stable interaction with TBP- associated factors (TAFs) in the TFIID ...

Lichen bleaching as a response to long‐term experimental warming in the High Arctic

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Lichens are an important component of Arctic ecosystems. Studies have indicated a decline in the abundance of Arctic lichens during recent decades, which is often attributed to competitive pressure from vascular plants.

Identification of plant promoter constituents by analysis of local distribution of short sequences

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2007
Background Plant promoter architecture is important for understanding regulation and evolution of the promoters, but our current knowledge about plant promoter structure, especially with respect to the core promoter, is insufficient.

Double-stranded DNA probes used for the interaction of TsTBP1 with different TATA-box sequences by EMSA.

open access: yes, 2015
In bold letters are represented the putative TATA-box for each gene. Underlined bases are the mutated bases in the TATA-box consensus.

EVICT, NEGLECT, OR INVEST? Community Power and the Politics of Urban Informality Governance in Jakarta

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Why do some informal neighborhoods receive public investment while others are neglected or evicted? This article addresses the inconsistent governmental responses to informal settlements in Jakarta, Indonesia, during the democratic period. State actions range from violent evictions to tolerance and community‐led improvements.

Nest Survival Models and Genomics Illuminate Hybridisation Attempts, Guiding Culturally Informed Management to Recover a Critically Endangered Seabird

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Long‐term monitoring has revealed hybridisation attempts between the Critically Endangered Kuaka Whenua Hou (KWH, Pelecanoides whenuahouensis) and the abundant Kuaka (P. urinatrix). Here we use modelling based on population monitoring data in tandem with genomic data to investigate these attempts and the risk they pose to KWH recovery.

Molecular structure of promoter-bound yeast TFIID

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Transcription preinitiation complex assembly begins with the recognition of the gene promoter by the TATA-box Binding Protein-containing TFIID complex.
