Antibiotic Resistance: A Genetic and Physiological Perspective

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2025.
The development of resistance to antimicrobials and their historical progression are depicted in this graphic. It draws attention to important biochemical, physiological, and genetic factors that contribute to AMR, such as the transmission of genes, the development of biofilms, and the inactivation of antibiotics.

Photoaffinity labeling coupled to MS to identify peptide biological partners: Secondary reactions, for better or for worse?

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 44, Issue 5, Page 715-756, September/October 2025.
Abstract Affinity photolabeling is a smart method to study noncovalent and transient interactions and provide a submolecular picture of the contacts between interacting partners. In this review, we will focus on the identification of peptide partners using photoaffinity labeling coupled to mass spectrometry in different contexts such as in vitro with a

Carrier Protein Interaction with Competing Adenylation and Epimerization Domains in a Nonribosomal Peptide Synthetase Analyzed by FRET

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 20, May 13, 2024.
In nonribosomal peptide synthetases, the peptidyl‐carrier‐protein (PCP) of each module tethers the amino acid to be incorporated into the peptide product. Its interaction with multiple catalytic domains is barely studied. We reveal a surprising competition of the adenylation (A) and epimerization (E) domains for the PCP in an A‐PCP‐E module.

The Complete Assessment of Small Molecule and Peptidomimetic Inhibitors of Sortase A Towards Antivirulence Treatment

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 38, July 5, 2024.
This review covers the most recent advances in the development of inhibitors for the bacterial enzyme sortase A (SrtA), where it is considered as a major target for antivirulence therapy. Sortases are key enzymes regulating bacterial adherence to host cells and are considered major virulence factors.
