Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Serum Biopterin as a Marker of Immune Activation in the Spontaneously Diabetic BB Rat
Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), is a pteridine product which is released by rodent macrophages and fibroblasts upon activation by cytokines. It has previously been reported as a potentially useful marker for monitoring immune activation during the prediabetic

Illuminating Streptomyces: Raman Spectroscopy for Antibiotic Detection and Monitoring
Raman spectroscopy provides a non‐destructive, label‐free approach for studying the chemical diversity of Streptomyces. This review presents its application from detection to chemical characterization of secondary metabolites and monitoring of biosynthetic processes.

Control of Melanogenesis In the Human Epidermis by the Redox-Status of Tetrahydrobiopterins
Activity of tyrosinase directly controls melanogenesis in the human epidermis. Recently, it has been shown that the biosynthesis and recycling of (6R)L-erythro 5,6,7,8 tetrahydrobiopterin (6-BH4) plays a central role in regulating the supply of L ...

We examined the effect of H2O2 on the expression of GTP cyclohydrolase I (GTPCH) feedback regulating protein (GFRP). Addition of H2O2 to endothelial cells decreased GFRP mRNA levels, in contrast to the increase of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) content and ...

Photo‐responsive carbon dots for pyroptosis‐mediated anti‐tumor application
Photo‐responsive CDs generate ROS to induce tumor cell pyroptosis, thereby stimulating antitumor immunity. Abstract Pyroptosis refers to a kind of lytic programmed cell death, characterized by the release of pro‐inflammatory cytokines during the process. Owing to its immune response stimulation ability, pyroptosis has garnered considerable attention in

Social rank in greater long‐tailed hamsters (Tscherskia triton) shapes gut microbiota composition and metabolite profiles. Dominant males exhibit a “high‐vigilance, metabolically activated” phenotype, with elevated aggression and specific gut microbiota enriched in energy‐harvesting taxa and fecal queuine.

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.
