THU0053 APREMILAST INHIBITS THE TGFî'1 MEDIATED TRANSITION OF CULTURED HUMAN SKIN FIBROBLASTS INTO PROFIBROTIC MYOFIBROBLASTS: IN VITRO STUDY [PDF]
Background Fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition and extracellular matrix (ECM) overproduction represent fundamental events in chronic inflammation, that characterise several diseases, including psoriasis (1,2). Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGFβ1), plays an important role as a profibrotic mediator (3).

Cellular quiescence: How TGFβ protects cancer cells from chemotherapy
Using a functional proliferation reporter we identified quiescent tumor propagating cancer cells (TPCs) in intact squamous cell carcinomas, and found that TGFβ signaling controls their reversible entry into a growth arrested state, which protects TPCs ...

Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) induces epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), which correlates with stemness and invasiveness. Mesenchymal–epithelial transition (MET) is induced by TGFβ withdrawal and correlates with metastatic colonization ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

TGFβ/BMP immune signaling affects abundance and function of C. elegans gut commensals. [PDF]
The gut microbiota contributes to host health and fitness, and imbalances in its composition are associated with pathology. However, what shapes microbiota composition is not clear, in particular the role of genetic factors.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The TGFβ type I receptor TGFβRI functions as an inhibitor of BMP signaling in cartilage. [PDF]
The type I TGFβ receptor TGFβRI (encoded by Tgfbr1) was ablated in cartilage. The resulting Tgfbr1 Col2 mice exhibited lethal chondrodysplasia. Similar defects were not seen in mice lacking the type II TGFβ receptor or SMADs 2 and 3, the intracellular ...
