Conventional T-bet+Foxp3− Th1 cells are the major source of host-protective regulatory IL-10 during intracellular protozoan infection

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2007
Although interferon γ (IFN-γ) secretion is essential for control of most intracellular pathogens, host survival often also depends on the expression of interleukin 10 (IL-10), a cytokine known to counteract IFN-γ effector functions.

Bioengineered Pancreatic Cancer Immunosuppressive Microenvironment Models for Screening Immunotherapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Bioengineering tumor‐stroma pancreatic cancer models with potential to emulate the native immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Cancer‐on‐a‐bead models exhibited higher relevance for screening immunotherapies and modulating the protumoral PDAC microenvironment. ABSTRACT Pancreatic cancer is notably resistant to treatment, primarily due to its dense

Mast Cells Stimulated with Peptidoglycan from Staphylococcus aureus Augment the Development of Th1 Cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2018
Background: The skin of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) is superficially colonized by Staphylococcus aureus. We have previously found that percutaneous permeation of peptidoglycan (PEG) from S. aureus increases the number of mast cells in the dermis,

IL‐2 Free Expansion of T Cells with Immunofilaments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ratio and density of stimulatory αCD3 and αCD28 mAb on immunofilaments (IF) influence T cell expansion, cytokine production, and effector phenotype. Moreover, IL‐2 supplementation is not necessary with optimal performing IFs, which leads to simpler culture conditions, and negative side effects of IL‐2 supplementation are reduced.

Th17 Cells Induce Th1-Polarizing Monocyte-Derived Dendritic Cells [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2013
Abstract In chronically inflamed tissues, such as those affected by autoimmune disease, activated Th cells often colocalize with monocytes. We investigate in this study how murine Th cells influence the phenotype and function of monocytes.

PRMT5 regulates epigenetic changes in suppressive Th1-like iTregs in response to IL-12 treatment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundInduced regulatory T cells (iTregs) are a heterogeneous population of immunosuppressive T cells with therapeutic potential. Treg cells show a range of plasticity and can acquire T effector-like capacities, as is the case for T helper 1 (Th1 ...

Molecular mechanisms that control the expression and activity of Bcl-6 in TH1 cells to regulate flexibility with a TFH-like gene profile

open access: yesNature Immunology, 2012
The transcription factors T-bet and Bcl-6 are required for the establishment of a T helper type 1 cell (TH1 cell) and follicular helper T cell (TFH cell) gene-expression profile, respectively. Here we found that high concentrations of interleukin 2 (IL-2)

Adenosine A2A receptor-mediated interactions between Th1+ T cells and the choroid plexus epithelium via IFN-γ signalling control T-Cell infiltration in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling
Background Adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR) antagonists have been consistently demonstrated to protect against multiple sclerosis (MS) pathology, but A2AR knockout (A2AR−/−) mice exhibit exacerbated immune injury, raising concerns regarding the use of A2AR ...
