Spiroketal naphthodecalins are readily assembled by Barton's base mediated Ullmann binaphthyl ether coupling, Dakin reactions and hypervalent iodine spirocyclization. The core structures can be further diversified by enone addition and Stille coupling reactions.

Glutathionylation of human thioredoxin: A possible crosstalk between the glutathione and thioredoxin systems [PDF]
To identify proteins undergoing glutathionylation (formation of protein-glutathione mixed disulfides) in human T cell blasts, we radiolabeled the glutathione pool with 35 S, exposed cells to the oxidant diamide, and analyzed cellular proteins by two-dimensional electrophoresis.

Crystal structure of plasmoredoxin, a redox-active protein unique for malaria parasites
Plasmoredoxin is a 22 kDa thiol–disulfide oxidoreductase involved in cellular redox regulatory processes and antioxidant defense. The 1.6 Å structure of the protein, solved via X-ray crystallography, adopts a modified thioredoxin fold.

PDIA6–SCD1 Axis Rewires Lipid Metabolism to Drive Gastric Cancer Progression
Protein disulfide isomerase A6 (PDIA6) is identified as an oncogenic driver in gastric cancer. PDIA6 directly binds and stabilizes SCD1 by limiting its ubiquitin–proteasome‐mediated degradation, thereby sustaining monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA)‐enriched lipid homeostasis and lipid metabolic reprogramming.

Cyanobacteria evolved the ability to perform oxygenic photosynthesis using light energy to reduce CO2 from electrons extracted from water and form nutrients. These organisms also developed light-dependent redox regulation through the Trx system, formed by thioredoxins (Trxs) and thioredoxin reductases (TRs).
