The protease ADAMTS5 controls ovarian cancer cell invasion, downstream of Rab25

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Metastatic progression is characterised by extensive remodelling of the extracellular matrix, primarily mediated by secreted proteases, including ADAMTS family members. Rainero and colleagues found that the small GTPase Rab25 promoted the expression of ADAMTS5 in ovarian cancer cells through the activation of the NF‐κB signalling pathway.

Selective Action of 4?-Benzoylated Thymidine on DNA Polymerases and Reverse Transcriptases

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1997
4?-Acylated thymidine triphosphates 1 have been synthesized and tested as substrates for DNA polymerases and reverse transcriptases. The 4?-benzoylated thymidine 1d was selectively acting as a chain terminator for the DNA synthesis catalyzed by ...

Lymphocyte Transformation Tests and Patch Tests to Identify Drugs Potentially Associated With Bullous Pemphigoid Development

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most common autoimmune blistering disease, with a rising incidence in the elderly. BP is associated with multiple triggering factors, including drug exposure. However, evidence in this respect is limited, and the underlying immune mechanisms remain unknown.

Induction of proximal tubular proliferation and lengthening in response to sodium glucose linked cotransporter‐2 inhibition in experimental rats

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
While SGLT2 accounts for >90% of kidney glucose reabsorption, its pharmacological inhibition or genetic knockdown reduces glucose reabsorption by only 50%. We found that the SGLT2 inhibitor, dapagliflozin, induced an early, transient hyperplastic response in the SGLT1‐expressing S3 segment of the proximal tubule followed by an increase in its length ...

Epidermal proteomics demonstrates Elafin as a psoriasis‐specific biomarker and highlights increased anti‐inflammatory activity around psoriatic plaques

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Epidermal sampling of lesional, perilesional and non‐lesional skin from psoriasis and eczema patients as well as healthy skin was used to perform an in depth proteomic analysis. IL‐36γ known to be expressed in lesional psoriasis skin was outperformed by the protease inhibitor Elafin as a disease‐specific epidermal biomarker.
