Thyroid Hormone Resistance Syndrome: A Case Report with Literature Review

open access: yes
Resistance to thyroid hormone receptor beta (THRβ) is a rare condition causing abnormal thyroid function tests (TFTs) characterized by elevated thyroid hormone levels with unsuppressed Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH).

Assessing a Model for a Complex Systemic Disorder—The Value of Male Mice With a Supernumerary X Chromosome for Klinefelter Syndrome Research

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Direct experimental investigation of Klinefelter syndrome (KS) in patients is limited because the syndrome manifests heterogeneously and affects multiple organ systems. Studying KS therefore requires a model that captures this complexity as accurately as possible while still permitting controlled experimental manipulation ...

Levodopa induces thyroid function regulation in a patient with thyroid hormone resistance and Parkinson’s disease: a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
IntroductionThyroid hormone resistance (THR) is a rare genetic syndrome characterized by reduced sensitivity to thyroid hormones. Patients may be asymptomatic, although clinical manifestations depend on the THR subtype.

A rare syndrome: Thyroid hormone resistance

open access: yesDicle Medical Journal / Dicle Tip Dergisi, 2011

Prolactin in high‐metabolic risk pregnancies: Associations with maternal obesity and metabolic health

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Higher maternal BMI before and during early pregnancy is associated with lower prolactin levels across gestation and a reduced prolactin rise. Prolactin in pregnancy may reflect maternal metabolic health and has potential relevance to lactation outcomes.

Psilocybin as a novel treatment for chronic pain

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Psychedelic drugs are under active consideration for clinical use and have generated significant interest for their potential as anti‐nociceptive treatments for chronic pain, and for addressing conditions like depression, frequently co‐morbid with pain.

Mosaicism of a thyroid hormone receptor-beta gene mutation in resistance to thyroid hormone

open access: yes, 2006
Context: Heterozygous mutations in thyroid hormone receptor-beta (TR beta) gene are the cause of resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH) in more than 85% of families having the syndrome. In 23% of the families, TR beta gene mutations occur de novo.

Two Novel Mutations In The Thyroid Hormone Receptor β In Patients With Resistance To Thyroid Hormone (rth β): Clinical, Biochemical, And Molecular Data

open access: yes, 2015
The syndrome of resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH β) is an inherited disorder characterized by variable tissue hyposensitivity to 3,5,30-l-triiodothyronine (T3), with persistent elevation of free-circulating T3 (FT3) and free thyroxine (FT4) levels in ...

Renal‐vascular axis: unmasking its role in vascular endothelial growth factor‐inhibitor vascular toxicity in cancer patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Vascular toxicity is a growing concern in cancer patients receiving vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor (VEGFi) therapy, posing a significant threat to patient prognosis. While the primary mechanism of VEGFi‐induced vascular toxicity is linked to redox‐sensitive reactions that disrupt vascular tone, leading to hypertension and ...
