ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

The abnormalities of coagulation and fibrinolysis in acute lung injury caused by gas explosion
Acute lung injury (ALI) caused by gas explosion is common, and warrants research on the underlying mechanisms. Specifically, the role of abnormalities of coagulation and fibrinolysis in this process has not been defined.

Seminal tissue factor revisited [PDF]
SummaryStudies of seminal tissue factor (TF) are few and mostly based on small numbers. Due to the reported lack of factor (F) X in semen, it has been suggested that TF may not have a role in seminal coagulum formation. However, recent identification of a number of haemostatic factors in semen justifies a re‐evaluation of its occurrence.

ABSTRACT Background Transfusion‐related iron overload (TRIO) is a late effect of therapy impacting survivors of childhood cancer and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) who receive frequent packed red blood cell (pRBC) transfusions. Surprisingly, there are no accepted guidelines to assist providers in identifying and treating at‐risk ...

The role of tissue factor in normal pregnancy and in the development of preeclampsia: A review
Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a key element for normal gestation, especially in the first trimester. TF levels are hence raised in pregnancy, producing an adaptive hypercoagulable state.

Computational purification of individual tumor gene expression profiles leads to significant improvements in prognostic prediction. [PDF]
Tumor heterogeneity is a limiting factor in cancer treatment and in the discovery of biomarkers to personalize it. We describe a computational purification tool, ISOpure, to directly address the effects of variable normal tissue contamination in clinical

ABSTRACT Purpose Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) is a rare, aggressive tumor seen in young children. The optimal timing of resection for locally advanced tumors is not well‐defined. The purpose of this study is to evaluate modern oncologic outcomes and the impact of surgical timing. Methods A multicenter retrospective review was performed

Predicting survival from colorectal cancer histology slides using deep learning: A retrospective multicenter study [PDF]
BACKGROUND: For virtually every patient with colorectal cancer (CRC), hematoxylin-eosin (HE)-stained tissue slides are available. These images contain quantitative information, which is not routinely used to objectively extract prognostic biomarkers.

MYCN Amplification in RB1‐Inactivated Retinoblastoma: Association With High‐Risk Features
ABSTRACT Background MYCN amplification occurs in a subset of retinoblastoma cases, both with and without RB1 inactivation. It has been suggested that retinoblastomas with MYCN amplification represent a distinct entity with more aggressive clinical behavior.
