“Where’s Wally?” Identifying theory of mind in school-based social skills interventions

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
This mini configurative review links theory of mind (ToM) research with school-based social skills interventions to reframe theoretical understanding of ToM ability based on a conceptual mapping exercise.

Theory of Mind, Executive Functions, and Syntax in Bilingual Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesLanguages, 2020
Impairments in Theory of Mind (ToM) are a core feature of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ToM may be enhanced by various factors, including bilingualism, executive functions (EF), and complex syntax.

Biogenesis of Tom40, Core Component of the Tom Complex of Mitochondria [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1999
Tom40 is an essential component of the preprotein translocase of the mitochondrial outer membrane (TOM complex) in which it constitutes the core element of the protein conducting pore. We have investigated the biogenesis of Tom40. Tom40 is inserted into the outer membrane by the TOM complex.

The Mitochondrial Import Complex MIM Functions as Main Translocase for α-Helical Outer Membrane Proteins

open access: yesCell Reports, 2020
Summary: The mitochondrial outer membrane contains integral proteins with α-helical membrane anchors or a transmembrane β-barrel. The translocase of the outer membrane (TOM) cooperates with the sorting and assembly machinery (SAM) in the import of β ...

The relationship between Theory of Mind and Executive Functioning in typically developing children: a systematic review

open access: yesΨυχολογία: το Περιοδικό της Ελληνικής Ψυχολογικής Εταιρείας, 2023
The development of Theory of Mind (ToM) constitutes a central topic in the study of human cognitive development. During the last decades, researchers representing different theoretical approaches have been trying to explore the emergence and development

Structural overview of the translocase of the mitochondrial outer membrane complex

open access: yesBiophysics and Physicobiology, 2022
Most mitochondrial proteins are synthesized as precursor proteins (preproteins) in the cytosol and imported into mitochondria. The translocator of the outer membrane (TOM) complex functions as a main entry gate for the import of mitochondrial proteins ...

“What Was His Name, Again?”: A New Method for Reducing Memory-Based Errors in an Adult False-Belief Task

open access: yesEurope's Journal of Psychology, 2020
Despite considerable interest in the development of Theory of Mind (ToM) during early childhood, until recently, there has been little consideration about whether and how ToM skills continue to change into adulthood.

Functions of the Small Proteins in the TOM Complex of Neurospora crasssa [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Biology of the Cell, 2005
The TOM (translocase of the outer mitochondrial membrane) complex of the outer mitochondrial membrane is required for the import of proteins into the organelle. The core TOM complex contains five proteins, including three small components Tom7, Tom6, and Tom5.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of implicit Theory of Mind in schizophrenia

open access: yesEuropean Psychiatry, 2022
Introduction Everyday social interactions are based on Theory of Mind (ToM) or mentalizing, whose complex processes are involved in understanding, representing one’s own and other people’s mental states. ToM is supposed to have two systems. The implicit

The mitochondrial TOM complex modulates bax-induced apoptosis in Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2009
Bax is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family proteins involved in the release of apoptogenic factors from mitochondria to the cytosol. Recently, it has been shown both in mammals and yeast that Bax insertion in the mitochondrial outer membrane involves at least two distinct mechanisms, one of which uses the TOM complex.
