Indirect electrochemical detection for total bile acids in human serum

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2016
Bile acids level in serum is a useful index for screening and diagnosis of hepatobiliary diseases. As bile acids concentration is closely related to the degree of hepatobiliary diseases, detecting it is a vital factor to understand the stage of the diseases.

Evaluation of total serum bile acids concentration and bile acid profiles in healthy cats after oral administration of ursodeoxycholic acid

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1994
Summary Ursodeoxycholic acid (udca; 10 mg/kg of body weight) was administered orally to 5 healthy cats for 3 months. Signs of illness were not apparent in any cat during treatment with udca. Results of monthly CBC, serum biochemical analysis, and urinalysis were unchanged during drug administration.

Origin of Cholesterol and Bile Acids in the Diverted Bile of Two Patients with Total Small Bowel Resection

1990
An isotope study of cholesterol and bile acid metabolism was carried out in two patients who had undergone home cyclic parenteral nutrition for several months after total small bowel resection. This rare steady-state situation implies that cholesterol is eliminated from the body by an external biliary fistula which replaces the fecal output of ...

[Spectrophotofluorimetric enzymatic determination of total serum bile acids].

Minerva medica, 1980
A new enzymatic fluorimetric assay for the determination of total serum bile acids is described. The enzyme 3 alpha-idroxysteroid NAD oxireductase by oxydising the free OH in position 3 alpha of bile acid molecule, reduce NAD previously added. Afterwards the hydrogen of the generated NADH is transferred by a diaphorase to resazurin to yield the ...
