A Large Sample Retrospective Study on the Distinction of Voriconazole Concentration in Asian Patients from Different Clinical Departments

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2021
Voriconazole (VRZ) is widely used to prevent and treat invasive fungal infections; however, there are a few studies examining the variability and influencing the factors of VRZ plasma concentrations across different clinical departments. This study aimed

The role of the tongue-of-ionization in the formation of the poleward wall of the main trough in the European post-midnight sector

open access: yes, 2008
A series of radio tomography reconstructions from the University of Wales Aberystwyth receiver chains in Scandinavia and the UK, imaging the midnight-dawn sector on 13 December 2001, reveal a persistent large-scale electron density enhancement, which ...

Factors affecting serum concentration of dabigatran in Asian patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2019
Background/purpose: Dabigatran is effective in preventing ischemic stroke and systemic embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation. Although the therapeutic window for dabigatran is wide, its pharmacokinetic properties can differ between specific ...

Significance of trough monitoring for tacrolimus blood concentration and calcineurin activity in adult patients undergoing primary living-donor liver transplantation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
[Purpose] : Tacrolimus pharmacokinetics and calcineurin activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were investigated in adult patients undergoing primary living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) in order to clarify the significance of ...

Relationship between nevirapine trough concentration and underlying liver diseases.

open access: yes, 2013
The differences for nevirapine trough concentration between lead-in and steady-state periods was observed in patients with HBV infection (A). The nevirapine trough concentration at week 4 was significantly lower than the values at week 24, 36 and 48 ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Association between pazopanib exposure and safety in Japanese patients with renal cell carcinoma or soft tissue sarcoma

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The safety and effectiveness of pazopanib are related to plasma trough concentrations in renal cell carcinoma (RCC); however, data on pazopanib plasma trough concentrations with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) are limited.

Combined Effect of CYP2C19 Genetic Polymorphisms and C-Reactive Protein on Voriconazole Exposure and Dosing in Immunocompromised Children

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2022
BackgroundPediatric patients have significant interindividual variability in voriconazole exposure. The aim of the study was to identify factors associated with voriconazole concentrations and dose requirements to achieve therapeutic concentrations in ...
