Variation in Tacrolimus Trough Concentrations in Liver Transplant Patients Undergoing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography: A Retrospective, Observational Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
ObjectiveHigh variabilities in tacrolimus (TAC) exposure are still problems that confuse physicians. TAC trough levels (TAC Cmin) fluctuated considerably after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) treatment in several liver transplant ...

Lower Vancomycin Serum Trough Concentrations Might Not Be the Answer [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2013
To the Editors, We read with interest the manuscript published by Frymoyer et al(1) regarding desired vancomycin trough serum concentrations for treating invasive methicillin-resistant staphylococcal (MRSA) infections. In their manuscript, the authors suggest that vancomycin serum trough concentrations of 7–10 µg/mL should be sufficient for ...

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Methods of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring to Guide Vancomycin Dosing Regimens: Trough Concentration versus Ratio of Area Under the Curve to Minimum Inhibitory Concentration

open access: yes, 2022
Background: The most recent vancomycin monitoring guideline recommends targeting a value for area under the curve (AUC) of 400 to 600 mg*h/L, with an assumed minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1 mg/L.

One‐Step Microfluidic Manufactured Fucose‐Decorated Sweetosomes Choose the Time and the Road for Their Intracellular Journey to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Sweetosomes, a new class of fucose‐decorated liposomes, are developed via a one‐step microfluidic process without surface chemistry. This study elucidates their main caveolae‐mediated entry and distinct endosomal trafficking. These nanostructures demonstrate superior endosomal escape, organelle acidity modulation, and prolonged plasma persistence ...

Concentration-effect relationships and implications for trough-to-peak ratio [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hypertension, 1996
The guidelines on trough-to-peak ratio identified an index of the duration of action of an antihypertensive drug (relative to its dosage interval) to prevent the use of inappropriately large doses of drug simply to extend the apparent duration of action.

The Dissociation of Gefitinib Trough Concentration and Clinical Outcome in NSCLC Patients with EGFR Sensitive Mutations.

open access: yes, 2019
Gefitinib is an essential drug for NSCLC patients harboring EGFR sensitive mutations. The approved dose 250 mg/day is based on limited clinical trials, this research aims to explore the relationship between drug exposure and gefitinib response.

Functional Blood‐Brain Barrier Crossing by Biomimetic M13 Phage Vectors for Targeted Neuronal Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the M13 bacteriophage as a biomimetic nanovector capable of crossing in vitro models of the blood–brain barrier. By exploiting peculiar transcellular pathways, M13 avoids lysosomal degradation and preserves its structural integrity and functionality.
