Vancomycin dosing and target attainment in children

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology, Immunology and Infection, 2017
Background/Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the best dosing strategy for vancomycin by studying the associated factors and examining correlations between the area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) values and trough ...

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.

Limited association between serum vancomycin pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamic indices and clinical outcomes in gram-positive complicated urinary tract infections

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
BackgroundVancomycin, primarily excreted through the urine, is used for complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs) caused by Gram-positive bacteria.

Gut Microbiota Regulates Systemic Inflammatory Response and Compensatory Anti‐Inflammatory Response Syndromes by Targeting PF4+ Macrophages in Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute pancreatitis (AP) begins with pancreatic local inflammation, leading to the onset of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), followed by compensatory anti‐inflammatory response syndrome (CARS), which causes immune paralysis and higher mortality rate.

Impact of blood sampling time deviations on vancomycin therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical decision-making

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectiveTo evaluate the impact of deviations in blood sampling time on the interpretation of measured trough concentrations in vancomycin therapeutic drug monitoring; to explore a reference time window for early blood sampling in clinical settings where

RNA Helicase DDX21 Controls CD4+ T Cell Proliferation and Promotes Inflammatory Bowel Disease via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by dysregulated T cell responses. RNA helicases, including DExD‐box helicase 21 (DDX21), are pivotal in RNA metabolism, but their role in T cell‐mediated pathology during IBD remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that DDX21 expression in CD4+ T cells correlates with cell cycle and translation ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...
