Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 1 inhibition reverses cancer‐associated fibroblast‐mediated immunosuppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CAF‐mediated immunosuppression in ovarian cancer is driven by IDO1, reducing T‐cell function. Inhibiting IDO1 restores T‐cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, increases cancer cell apoptosis, and may help overcome CAF‐induced immune suppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Targeting IDO1 may improve antitumor immunity.

Systemic T Cell Receptor Profiling Reveals Adaptive Immune Activation and Potential Immune Signatures of Diagnosis and Brain Atrophy in Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy is increasingly associated with immune dysregulation and inflammation. The T cell receptor (TCR), a key mediator of adaptive immunity, shows repertoire alterations in various immune‐mediated diseases. The unique TCR sequence serves as a molecular barcode for T cells, and clonal expansion accompanied by reduced overall TCR ...

Association of tryptophan pathway metabolites with mortality and effectiveness of nutritional support among patients at nutritional risk: secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid and is the precursor of many important metabolites and neurotransmitters. In malnutrition, the availability of tryptophan is reduced, potentially putting patients at increased risks.

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

Tryptophan catabolism by tryptophan pyrrolase in rat liver. The effect of tryptophan loads and changes in tryptophan pyrrolase activity.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1975
We investigated how changes in tryptophan pyrrolase activity and tryptophan loads affect the breakdown of tryptophan was estimated by injecting rats with [ring-2-14-C]tryptophan and measuring respiratory 14-CO2. We concluded, contrary to previous reports, that induction of tryptophan pyrrolase definitely will increase the rate of tryptophan breakdown ...

Exposure to Helicobacter pylori and Serum Kynurenine to Tryptophan Ratio in Patients with Gastric Cancer

open access: yesPteridines, 2010
In Helicobacter pylori seropositive individuals, the subsequent risk of non-cardia gastric cancer development is frequently attributed to the infection agent. Although the link between inflammation and gastric cancer is formally recognized, the molecular

Influence of β-Carboline Produced from Glucose and Tryptophan on Protein Synthesis of Chicken Embryo Myoblasts

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2012
Glycation is non-enzymatic reaction causing dehydrating condensation between carbonyl group of reducing sugars and amino group of proteins. In the case of glucose and tryptophan, this reaction forms Schiff base followed by two different reactions of ...

The use of isotopic carbon in a study of the metabolism of anthanilic acid in Neurospora [PDF]

open access: yes, 1949
The finding by Tatum, Banner, and Beadle (l), that the tryptophanless Neurospora mutant strain 10575 accumulates anthranilic acid, which in turn can be utilized for growth of strain 40008, has provided evidence that anthranilic acid is a biochemical ...
