Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

The Kynurenine Pathway: a Proposed Mechanism Linking Diabetes and Periodontal Disease in Diabetic Patients

open access: yesDental Hypotheses, 2011
Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characte-rized by dysregulation of carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism. Diabetes could result, in part, in activation of tryptophan metabolism.

Diabetes and Tryptophan Metabolism

open access: yes, 2015
Tryptophan, an essential amino acid, can be metabolized to several kinds of physiologically active metabolites. Accumulating data indicate that an altered metabolism of tryptophan and its active metabolites have important roles for the pathogenesis and ...

Low Levels of Serum Tryptophan Underlie Skeletal Muscle Atrophy

open access: yes, 2020
Sarcopenia is a poor prognosis factor in some cancer patients, but little is known about the mechanisms by which malignant tumors cause skeletal muscle atrophy.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

Tryptophan metabolite-regulated Treg responses contribute to attenuation of airway inflammation during specific immunotherapy in a mouse asthma model

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2020
In allergen-specific immunotherapy for asthma, antigens attached to dendritic cells increase the tryptophan metabolism in these cells and alter the Th17/Treg balance in the airways.
