Bitter Taste Receptor Agonists Induce Apoptosis in Papillary Thyroid Cancer

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common thyroid malignancy, with a 20% recurrence rate. Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) and their genes (TAS2Rs) may regulate survival in solid tumors. This study examined T2R expression and function in PTC cells.

On VOAs Associated to Jordan Algebras of Type $C$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this article, we construct certain universal VOAs whose Greiss algebras are type C Jordan algebras. We also prove the corresponding simplicity result.

New interpretations for noncrossing partitions of classical types [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Combin. Theory Ser. A 118 (2011) 1168-1189, 2009
We interpret noncrossing partitions of type $B$ and type $D$ in terms of noncrossing partitions of type $A$. As an application, we get type-preserving bijections between noncrossing and nonnesting partitions of type $B$, type $C$ and type $D$ which are different from those in the recent work of Fink and Giraldo. We also define Catalan tableaux of type $

The use of corticosteroids in the lateral sinus augmentation surgical procedure: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesClinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, Volume 24, Issue 6, Page 776-791, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background The lateral maxillary sinus augmentation (MSA) procedure has good predictability in terms of the success of bone regeneration with a low incidence of postoperative infections, estimated between 2% and 5.6%. Although the use of antibiotics is an established and standardized prophylactic measure for MSA procedures, the addition of ...

Geometric Schur Duality of Classical Type, II [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We establish algebraically and geometrically a duality between the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type D and two new quantum algebras arising from the geometry of N-step isotropic flag varieties of type D. This duality is a type D counterpart of the Schur-Jimbo duality of type A and the Schur-like duality of type B/C discovered by Bao-Wang.

Rational engineering of adeno‐associated virus capsid enhances human hepatocyte tropism and reduces immunogenicity

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 55, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Transduction efficiency and immune responses hinder the application of recombinant adeno‐associated viral (rAAV) vectors in gene therapy. Here, Han et al. describe a new combined strategy for AAV capsid engineering and obtain several AAV variants with higher liver transduction efficiency and less immune activation.

Bases for local Weyl modules in type $C$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We give a Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt type basis for local Weyl modules of the current algebra of type $C$. As a consequence, we get a fermionic character formula for these modules.

Progress of non‐motor symptoms in early‐onset Parkinson's disease

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
This study reviews the research progress related to non‐motor symptoms (NMS) in patients with early onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD), including neuropsychiatric symptoms, autonomic dysfunction, sleep disorders, and sensory disorders and also summarizes the characteristics of NMS in the genetic form of Parkinson's disease (PD).

On Hahn-Banach type theorems for Hilbert C*-modules [PDF]

open access: yesInternat. J. Math. 13(2002), 675-693, 1996
We show three Hahn-Banach type extension criteria for (sets of) bounded C*-linear maps of Hilbert C*-modules to the underlying C*-algebras of coefficients. One criterion establishes an alternative description of the property of (AW*-) C*-algebras to be monotone complete or additively complete.
