Establishment and Analysis ofSLC22A12(URAT1) Knockout Mouse
In order to elucidate the mechanisms of post-exercise acute renal failure, one of the complications of hereditary renal hypouricemia, we have targeted the mouse Slc22a12 gene by the exchange of exons 1-4 with pMC1neo-polyA. The knockout mice revealed no gross anomalies.

Molecular analysis of the SLC22A12 (URAT1) gene in patients with primary gout [PDF]
To analyse the SLC22A12 (URAT1) gene in primary gout patients, first-grade relatives and healthy controls and the possible association of them with demographic and clinical data.We included 69 consecutive patients with diagnosis of primary gout, as well as 29 first-grade relatives and 120 healthy volunteers.

Antihyperuricemic Effects of Cornus officinalis Extract via URAT1 Regulation and Renoprotective Mechanisms. [PDF]
Hyperuricemia, characterized by elevated serum uric acid levels, is a major risk factor for gout and kidney disease. This study evaluated the antihyperuricemic effects of Cornus officinalis extract (COE) using urate transporter 1 (URAT1)-expressing ...

Structural basis for the transport and substrate selection of human urate transporter 1
Summary: High serum urate levels are the major risk factor for gout. URAT1, the primary transporter for urate absorption in the kidneys, is well known as an anti-hyperuricemia drug target.

ABSTRACT Aims Animal models of prediabetes (Pre‐DM) are essential for studying metabolic disease and testing therapies, yet high‐fat diet (HFD) and HFD‐plus‐streptozotocin (STZ) protocols vary in feeding duration, STZ dose, and diagnostic criteria and rarely account for sex.

Transcriptome-based reconstructions from the murine knockout suggest involvement of the urate transporter, URAT1 (slc22a12), in novel metabolic pathways [PDF]
URAT1 (slc22a12) was identified as the transporter responsible for renal reabsorption of the medically important compound, uric acid. However, subsequent studies have indicated that other transporters make contributions to this process, and that URAT1 ...
