Meiotic abnormalities of Vaccinium ashei × Vaccinium darrowi hybrids
Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1984Meiosis was studied in pollen mother cells of three Vaccinium ashei (2n = 6x = 72) × Vaccinium darrowi (2n = 2x = 24) hybrids. Numerous irregularities were found, including 60 somatic chromosomes instead of the expected 48, two synezetic knots, two nucleolar organizing regions, lagging chromosomes at anaphase I and II, nonassociating chromosomes ...

FIELD PERFORMANCE OF VACCINIUM CORYMBOSUM AND V. ASHEI CULTIVARS IN NORTHERN ITALY
Acta Horticulturae, 2006The distribution of northern highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) is mainly limited in Italy by their requirement of a soil with low pH. The rabbiteye blueberry (V. ashei Reade) is more drought- and heat-tolerant, has a lower chilling requirement and wider pH tolerance than northern highbush.

BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF BLUEBERRY (VACCINIUM ASHEI READE)
Acta Horticulturae, 2013The correlation of fruits and vegetables consumption and good health is well established; however, there are many fruits that need to be studied considering the environmental conditions where they grow. Blueberry is one of the most important small fruit studied in the world; however, little is known about the blueberry cultivated in Brazil. There is an

Application potential of Vaccinium ashei R. for cadmium migration retention in the mining area soil
Chemosphere, 2023Despite numerous reports on phytoremediation of heavy metals contaminated soil, there are few reports on plant retention of heavy metals in the mining area slope. This study was the first of its kind to explore the cadmium (Cd) retention capacity of the blueberry (Vaccinium ashei Reade).

Abstract Amphiploids were produced from pentaploid hybrids between Vaccinium corymbosum (4x) and Vaccinium ashei (6x) by colchicine treatment. Seeds of each parental species and those obtained by the interspecific crossing were treated with colchicine at 0, 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/l for 7 days, and the ploidy level of the seedlings was determined ...

Aroma impact components of rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium ashei) vinegars
Food Chemistry, 2010Abstract The aroma impact components of the rabbiteye blueberry vinegars made from wine fermented without skin-contact (JV), wine fermented with skin-contact (WV), or blueberries (BV) were evaluated. Headspace volatiles were isolated by solid-phase microextraction (SPME).

Cuticular wax has been implicated in the first line of plant defense mechanism against external stresses. In this study, cuticular wax on the fruits of two rabbiteye blueberry cultivars cv. Baldwin and Brightwell were examined in terms of the morphology and chemical composition during fruit development in the presence and absence of pre-harvest ...
