Discrete-time variable structure control systems
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1995This paper presents a treatment of discrete variable structure control systems. The purpose is to lay a foundation upon which design of such type of systems can be made properly. Phenomena of switching, reaching, and quasi-sliding mode are investigated thoroughly. Terms pertaining to discrete variable structure control are defined.

Variable structure systems with sliding modes
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1977Variable structure systems consist of a set of continuous subsystems together with suitable switching logic. Advantageous properties result from changing structures according to this switching logic. Design and analysis for this class of systems are surveyed in this paper.

Viscoelastic Heterogeneous Structures with Variable Structural System
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1993Viscoelastic structures that undergo an evolution of the structural system, which passes from an initial to a final configuration, with an increase at different times of the number of the redundant reactions, are analyzed. These actions, which restore the compatibility conditions at the delayed restraints, are time‐dependent.

Variable-structure systems and system zeros
IEE Proceedings D Control Theory and Applications, 1983The analysis of variable-structure systems in the sliding mode yields the concept of equivalent control, which leads naturally to a new method for determining the zeros and zero directions of square linear multivariable systems. The analysis presented is conceptually easy and computationally attractive.

Three-segment variable structure systems
International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 1996Summary: The theory of variable structure systems is extended to three-segment variable structure systems (three switching modes). This is an effective means to insensitize a system to parameter variations and disturbances. The sliding mode region is extended and the response can start and stay on the sliding mode from the initial to final running time.
