Nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma behaves as a distinct clinical entity with good outcome: evidence from 14-year followup in the West of Scotland Cancer Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Clinically and biologically, nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) has much more in common with germinal-center derived B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) than with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL).

Not only P-glycoprotein: amplification of the ABCB1-containing chromosome region 7q21 confers multidrug resistance upon cancer cells by coordinated overexpression of an assortment of resistance-related proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The development of drug resistance continues to be a dominant hindrance toward curative cancer treatment. Overexpression of a wide-spectrum of ATP-dependent efflux pumps, and in particular of ABCB1 (P-glycoprotein or MDR1) is a well-known resistance ...

Effects of vinblastine on microvascular anastomosis healing in diabetic rats

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica, 2020
Objective: Diabetes mellitus and chemotherapy use are well-known factors that can affect success after microvascular repair. Although many studies have investigated each factor individually, no study exists on their combined effect.

Vinblastine pharmacokinetics in mouse, dog, and human in the context of a physiologically based model incorporating tissue‐specific drug binding, transport, and metabolism

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives, 2023
Vinblastine (VBL) is a vinca alkaloid‐class cytotoxic chemotherapeutic that causes microtubule disruption and is typically used to treat hematologic malignancies. VBL is characterized by a narrow therapeutic index, with key dose‐limiting toxicities being

Folate-conjugated nanoparticles as a potent therapeutic approach in targeted cancer therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The selective and efficient drug delivery to tumor cells can remarkably improve different cancer therapeutic approaches. There are several nanoparticles (NPs) which can act as a potent drug carrier for cancer therapy.

Vinblastine, an anticancer drug, causes constipation and oxidative stress as well as others disruptions in intestinal tract in rat

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2017
The purpose of this study is to examine the gastrointestinal disorders after injection of vinblastine (2 mg kg−1 b.w. i.v.) in rats. Animals were divided into two equal groups: Group 1 was considered as a control group (NaCl, 0.9%).

Effect of Photobiomodulation on Vinblastine-Poisoned Murine HERS Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of near-infrared (NIR) photobiomodulation on the proliferation and glutathione levels in murine Hertwig\u27s epithelial root sheath (HERS) cells after poisoning with vinblastine.

Head and neck cancer: metronomic chemotherapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In the era of personalized medicine, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) represents a critical oncologic topic. Conventional chemotherapy regimens consist of drugs administration in cycles near or at the maximum tolerated dose (MDT), followed ...

Interactions of Antibody Drug Conjugate Anti‐Tubulin and Topoisomerase I Inhibitor Payloads with Radiotherapy to Potentiate Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.

A Simplified Procedure for Indole Alkaloid Extraction from Catharanthus roseus Combined with a Semi-synthetic Production Process for Vinblastine

open access: yesMolecules, 2007
Dried leaves of Catharanthus roseus were extracted with aqueous acidic 0.1 M solution of HCl. Alkaloid-embonate complexes were obtained as precipitates by treating the extract with an alkaline (NaOH) solution of embonic acid (4,4-methylene-bis-3 ...
