Variational wave functions, ground state and their overlap

open access: yes, 2007
An intrinsic measure of the quality of a variational wave function is given by its overlap with the ground state of the system. We derive a general formula to compute this overlap when quantum dynamics in imaginary time is accessible.

Reciprocal interactions between tumor and endothelial cells: Effects of selective vasopressin V2 receptor peptide agonists [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Recent experimental evidence suggested that the synthetic peptide desmopressin (DDAVP) interferes tumor angiogenesis by inducing the formation of angiostatin.

Frequency weightings of hand-transmitted vibration for predicting vibration-induced white finger

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2011
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the performance of four frequency weightings for hand-transmitted vibration to predict the incidence of vibration-induced white finger (VWF).

Characterisation of feline renal cortical fibroblast cultures and their transcriptional response to transforming growth factor beta 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is common in geriatric cats, and the most prevalent pathology is chronic tubulointerstitial inflammation and fibrosis. The cell type predominantly responsible for the production of extra-cellular matrix in renal fibrosis is ...

Genetic determinants of VWF clearance and FVIII-binding modify FVIII pharmacokinetics in pediatric hemophilia A patients.

open access: yesBlood, 2019
Factor VIII (FVIII) pharmacokinetic properties show high inter-patient variability in hemophilia A patients. While previous studies have determined that age, body mass index, von Willebrand factor (VWF) antigen levels, and ABO blood group status can ...

Viral inactivation in von Willebrand factor preparations via UVC irradiation: an experimental approach

open access: yesZhongguo shuxue zazhi
[Objective] To evaluate the efficacy of ultraviolet-C (UVC) irradiation in inactivating porcine parvovirus (PPV), encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV), pseudorabies virus (PRV) and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) within von Willebrand factor (vWF ...

A rat model of severe VWD by elimination of the VWF gene using CRISPR/Cas9

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2020
Background Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder, caused by quantitative and qualitative changes in von Willebrand factor (VWF).

Revision of Madagascar's Dwarf Lemurs (Cheirogaleidae:Cheirogaleus): Designation of Species, Candidate Species Status and Geographic Boundaries Based on Molecular and Morphological Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The genus Cheirogaleus, the dwarf lemurs, is a radiation of strepsirrhine primates endemic to the island of Madagascar. The dwarf lemurs are taxonomically grouped in the family Cheirogaleidae (Infraorder: Lemuriformes) along with the genera Microcebus,
