Gelatin Zymography of Major Proteases in Exosomes of Leishmania major Promastigotes
Background: Enzymatic digestion of extra cellular matrix proteins by proteinases of Leishmania promastigotes is a complex process. Hence, studies on functional proteomics of these enzymes can help select these enzymes as possible vaccine candidates or

Phenotypic characterization of human prostatic stromal cells in primary cultures derived from human tissue samples [PDF]
Emerging evidence has shown that the tumor microenvironment plays a crucial role in prostate cancer (PCa) development and progression. However, the mechanism(s) through which stromal cells regulate epithelial cells and the differences among prostatic ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Detection of Functional Matrix Metalloproteinases by Zymography [PDF]
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are zinc-containing endopeptidases. They degrade proteins by cleavage of peptide bonds. More than twenty MMPs have been identified and are separated into six groups based on their structure and substrate specificity (collagenases, gelatinases, membrane type [MT-MMP], stromelysins, matrilysins, and others).

Matrix modification for enhancing the transport properties of the human cartilage endplate to improve disc nutrition. [PDF]
Poor solute transport through the cartilage endplate (CEP) impairs disc nutrition and could be a key factor that limits the success of intradiscal biologic therapies.

Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.

TL1A/DR3 axis involvement in the inflammatory cytokine network during pulmonary sarcoidosis [PDF]
BACKGROUND: TNF-like ligand 1A (TL1A), a recently recognized member of the TNF superfamily, and its death domain receptor 3 (DR3), firstly identified for their relevant role in T lymphocyte homeostasis, are now well-known mediators of several immune ...

Vitamins could regulate both MMP‐2 and MMP‐9 expression and activity through transcriptional and MAPK signaling pathway modulation. This study highlights the potential of vitamins as low‐toxicity therapeutic or adjunct agents for targeting MMP‐mediated cancer progression. Abstract Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP‐2 and MMP‐9) are key regulators of cancer

The IkB kinase inhibitor nuclear factor-kB essential modulator–binding domain peptide for inhibition of balloon injury-induced neointimal formation [PDF]
Objective—The activation of nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) is a crucial step in the arterial wall’s response to injury. The identification and characterization of the NF-kB essential modulator– binding domain (NBD) peptide, which can block the activation of
