The results showed that the reduction of plasma 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC) was related to the cognitive decline in elderly surgical patients. Neuroinflammation induced by anesthesia and surgery significantly downregulated SREBP2 in hippocampal reactive astrocytes, resulting in reduced cholesterol synthesis.

The accumulation and aggregation of the amyloid-β peptide (Aβ) in the brain are important contributing factors to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Consequently, blocking the generation of Aβ is a potentially important treatment strategy.

ABSTRACT Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) represent the most clinically advanced platform for RNA delivery and have enabled major breakthroughs in vaccines and gene therapies. However, their broader application is still limited by inefficient extrahepatic delivery, immunogenicity, and insufficient control over tissue‐ and cell‐specific targeting. This review

Pancreatic exocrine microcirculation exhibits sexual dimorphism arising from steroid–genetic interactions. Laser Doppler flowmetry combined with wavelet analysis identifies a male passive coupling phenotype aligned with systemic pressure and a female active vasomotion phenotype driven by ERβ‐mediated, NO‐dependent oscillations.

Diagnostic Power of 24S-Hydroxycholesterol in Cerebrospinal Fluid: Candidate Marker of Brain Health
We evaluated the diagnostic potential of 24S-hydroxycholesterol (24OHC) in cerebrospinal fluid. At a memory clinic, we investigated subjects with subjective cognitive impairment (SCI, n = 33), mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients (n = 27), MCI patients with later progression into Alzheimer dementia at follow up (n = 10), and patients ...

A Crosstalk Between Brain Cholesterol Oxidation and Glucose Metabolism in Alzheimer’s Disease [PDF]
In Alzheimer’s disease (AD), both cholesterol and glucose dysmetabolism precede the onset of memory deficit and contribute to the disease’s progression.

24s-Hydroxycholesterol. Studies on regulatory mechanisms behind its formation in the brain and its potential use as a marker for neurodegeneration [PDF]
Cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) belongs to the cytochrome P450 super family and is responsible for conversion of cholesterol to the oxysterol 24S- hydroxycholesterol (24S-OHC).
