Mitochondrial Thioredoxin System as a Modulator of Cyclophilin D Redox State [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The mitochondrial thioredoxin system (NADPH, thioredoxin reductase, thioredoxin) is a major redox regulator. Here we have investigated the redox correlation between this system and the mitochondrial enzyme cyclophilin D.

Pleiotropic Clostridioides difficile Cyclophilin PpiB Controls Cysteine-Tolerance, Toxin Production, the Central Metabolism and Multiple Stress Responses

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
The Gram-positive pathogen Clostridioides difficile is the main bacterial agent of nosocomial antibiotic associated diarrhea. Bacterial peptidyl-prolyl-cis/trans-isomerases (PPIases) are well established modulators of virulence that influence the outcome

Identification of amino acid residues important for the phosphomannose isomerase activity of PslB in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2008
Phosphomannose isomerase (PMI) plays a pivotal role in biosynthesis of GDP‐mannose, an important precursor of many polysaccharides. We demonstrate in this study that Pseudomonas aeruginosa pslB encodes a protein with GDP‐mannose pyrophosphorylase/PMI dual activities.

Development of a selection system for the detection of L-ribose isomerase expressing mutants of Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
L-Arabinose isomerase (E.C. 5.3.1.14) catalyzes the reversible isomerization between L-arabinose and L-ribulose and is highly selective towards L-arabinose.

The Amino Acid Sequence of Δ5-3-Ketosteroid Isomerase of Pseudomonas testosteroni

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1971
Abstract The primary structure of the identical subunits of crystalline Δ5-3-ketosteroid isomerase (EC 5.3.3.1) of Pseudomonas testosteroni has been determined by standard procedures to be the following: [see PDF for sequence] Thus, each subunit consists of a single polypeptide chain of 125 amino acid residues.

The putative proteinase maturation protein A of Streptococcus pneumoniae is a conserved surface protein with potential to elicit protective immune responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Surface-exposed proteins often play an important role in the interaction between pathogenic bacteria and their host. We isolated a pool of hydrophobic, surface-associated proteins of Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Human triose-phosphate isomerase deficiency: a single amino acid substitution results in a thermolabile enzyme. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1986
Triose-phosphate isomerase (TPI; D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate ketol-isomerase, EC 5.3.1.1) deficiency is a recessive disorder that results in hemolytic anemia and neuromuscular dysfunction. To determine the molecular basis of this disorder, a TPI allele from two unrelated patients homozygous for TPI deficiency was compared with an allele from a normal ...

The Amino Acid Composition of Crystalline Δ5-3-Ketosteroid Isomerase and Its Tryptic Peptides

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1966
Abstract The amino acid composition of crystalline Δ5-3-ketosteroid isomerase of Pseudomonas testosteroni is consistent with the formula Asp38, Thr21, Ser16, Glu38, Pro15, Gly29, Ala68, Val45, Met8, Ile12, Leu26, Tyr9, Phe25, Lys13, His9, Arg22. Eleven distinct peptides have been obtained after digestion of the heated enzyme by trypsin.

The human FK506-binding proteins: characterization of human FKBP19 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Analysis of the human repertoire of the FK506-binding protein (FKBP) family of peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerases has identified an expansion of genes that code for human FKBPs in the secretory pathway.

Analysis of the olive fruit fly Bactrocera oleae transcriptome and phylogenetic classification of the major detoxification gene families [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
he olive fruit fly Bactrocera oleae has a unique ability to cope with olive flesh, and is the most destructive pest of olives worldwide. Its control has been largely based on the use of chemical insecticides, however, the selection of insecticide ...
