FGIN-1-27 Inhibits Melanogenesis by Regulating Protein Kinase A/cAMP-Responsive Element-Binding, Protein Kinase C-β, and Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Pathways

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
FGIN-1-27 is a synthetic mitochondrial diazepam binding inhibitor receptor (MDR) agonist that has demonstrated pro-apoptotic, anti-anxiety, and steroidogenic activity in various studies.

Understanding exosomes in facial esthetics and skin aging

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Skin aging is a multifactorial process mediated by intrinsic (genetic and metabolic) and extrinsic (environmental) factors leading to functional and structural deterioration, including wrinkles, loss of collagen and elastin, as well as various pigmentation disorders.

Anti-Inflammation and Anti-Melanogenic Effects of Maca Root Extracts Fermented Using Lactobacillus Strains

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2023
Maca is a well-known biennial herb with various physiological properties, such as antioxidant activity and immune response regulation. In this study, the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-melanogenic effects of fermented maca root extracts were ...

Integrative Phosphoproteomic Profiling Reveals Stage‐Specific Signalling and Metabolism in Equine Melanocytic Neoplasm

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Equine melanocytic neoplasms (EMN) are aggressive tumours characterised by high metastatic potential and limited therapeutic options available. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying their progression remain poorly understood. This study therefore presents the integrative phosphoproteomic analysis of EMN tissue, with the aim of ...

Agouti protein, mahogunin, and attractin in pheomelanogenesis and melanoblast-like alteration of melanocytes: a cAMP-independent pathway

open access: yes, 2009
Melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) and its ligands, a-melanocyte stimulating hormone (aMSH) and agouti signaling protein (ASIP), regulate switching between eumelanin and pheomelanin synthesis in melanocytes.

Integrative Identification of Anti‐Photoaging Peptides From Stress‐Tolerant Microorganisms via Machine Learning and KEAP1–NRF2 Docking

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
Novel short‐chain peptides targeting the KEAP1‐NRF2 axis were identified through a multimodal discovery platform combining a stress‐tolerant microbial library with machine learning and molecular docking. These peptides regulate collagen synthesis and reduce MMP1/9 levels in human fibroblasts, providing significant protection against photoaging ...

Docking Study on salicylaldehyde Derivatives as Anti-melanogenesis Agents

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, 2018
Background & Objective: Abnormal production of melanin pigment which causes melasma, freckles, ephelides, and age spots, are esthetic problems. Polyphenol oxidase (PPO), a copper-containing enzyme, is involved in melanin biosynthesis and the abnormal accumulation of melanin pigments.

Anti-melanogenesis properties of quercetin- and its derivative-rich extract from Allium cepa [PDF]

open access: yesFood Chemistry, 2011
Abstract In an effort to find a new whitening agent, we have found that the methanol extract of the dried skin of Allium cepa showed inhibition of melanin formation. Bioassay-guided fractionation led to the isolation of quercetin (1) and quercetin 4’-O-β-glucoside (3) from A. cepa as the inhibitors of melanin formation in B16 melanoma cells with IC50

Alpinia zerumbet‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Protect Against UVB‐Induced Photoaging by Enhancing Mitochondrial Bioenergetics and Skin Barrier Function

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 52, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
AZEVs derived from Alpinia zerumbet leaves protect HaCaT keratinocytes from UVB‐induced photoaging by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, restoring mitochondrial membrane potential, and enhancing ATP production. AZEVs upregulate mitochondrial biogenesis–related proteins, including p‐AMPK/AMPK, SIRT1, PGC‐1α, and Nrf2, thereby improving

The Impact of Immunotherapy on Hair Repigmentation in Patients With Thoracic Tumors: A Clinical Observation Based on Trichoscopy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 13, July 2026.
This prospective study quantitatively evaluates the phenomenon of hair repigmentation in patients with thoracic tumors undergoing immunotherapy. Using standardized trichoscopy and grayscale analysis, we observed a significant darkening of hair color following treatment with PD‐1/PD‐L1 inhibitors.
