An implantable hydrogel is designed to hold gene transfection agents engineered to turn early recurrent tumor cells into generators of synthetic EVs. These synthetic EVs can express engineered miR‐26a (E‐miR‐26a) for highly sensitive detection and PD‐1 (a PD‐L1‐blocking agent) for therapeutic intervention, thereby enabling early detection and ...

Cystatin C Peptide Effects on B16F10 Melanoma Cells
Background: Metastasis is a major problem for effective therapy of cancer. Small cysteine protease inhibitors, cystatins have been shown to be anti-metastatic for a number of different cancers. We have identified a small peptide of cystatin which exhibits anti-cancer properties for B16 melanoma cells in vitro.

ARHGEF3 is broadly downregulated across human cancers and correlates with patient prognosis. Tumor‐intrinsic ARHGEF3 activates the RHOA–ROCK–PTEN cascade to inhibit AKT signaling, thereby promoting chemokine‐driven T‐cell infiltration and relieving lipid‐mediated myeloid immunosuppression.

Enhancement of vaccinia virus based oncolysis with histone deacetylase inhibitors [PDF]
Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDI) dampen cellular innate immune response by decreasing interferon production and have been shown to increase the growth of vesicular stomatitis virus and HSV.

ABSTRACT Despite the transformative impact of cancer immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint blockade, durable clinical responses remain limited. Increasing evidence indicates that antitumor immunity is governed not only by the tumor microenvironment, but also by systemic immune regulation mediated by peripheral immune organs. Among these, the spleen

Samsoeum, a traditional herbal medicine, elicits apoptotic and autophagic cell death by inhibiting Akt/mTOR and activating the JNK pathway in cancer cells [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Samsoeum (SSE), a traditional herbal formula, has been widely used to treat cough, fever, congestion, and emesis for centuries. Recent studies have demonstrated that SSE retains potent pharmacological efficiency in anti-allergic and anti ...

The mammalian TGFβ interacts with ubiquitously expressed TGFBR1 and TGFBR2, and current TGFβ‐targeting agents are non‐cell‐selective. The cooperative interaction of the modular parasite TGFβ antagonist with multiple host (co‐)receptors empowers the design of TGM chimeras and bispecific antibodies that activate or inhibit TGFβ signaling in a cell ...

In vitro and in vivo anticancer properties of a Calcarea carbonica derivative complex (M8) treatment in a murine melanoma model [PDF]
Background: Melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer and the most rapidly expanding cancer in terms of worldwide incidence. Chemotherapeutic approaches to treat melanoma have had only marginal success.
