Bone Morphogenetic Protein-4, a Novel Modulator of Melanogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2006
Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), members of the transforming growth factor-beta family, signal in many cells including neural precursors. Two receptors, types 1 and 2, coordinately mediate BMP signaling, and type 1 receptor has two forms: A and B. Using RT-PCR we found that neural crest-derived human melanocytes express BMP receptor-1A, -1B, and -2.

Addition of bone morphogenetic protein type 2 to ascorbate and β-glycerophosphate supplementation did not enhance osteogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells

open access: yesJournal of Applied Oral Science, 2012
Bone morphogenetic protein type 2 (BMP-2) is a potent local factor, which promotes bone formation and has been used as an osteogenic supplement for mesenchymal stem cells.

Chondrogenesis, bone morphogenetic protein-4 and mesenchymal stem cells [PDF]

open access: yesOsteoarthritis and Cartilage, 2008
As adult cartilage has very limited potential to regenerate, cartilage repair is challenging. Available treatments have several disadvantages, including formation of fibrocartilage instead of hyaline-like cartilage, as well as eventual ossification of the newly formed tissue.

Influence of bone morphogenetic protein type IA receptor conditional knockout in lens on expression of bone morphogenetic protein 4 in lens

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2015
AIM: To investigate the influence of bone morphogenetic protein type IA receptor [BMPR-IA (ALK3)] conditional knockout in lens on expression of bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) in lens during the development of the vertebrate eye.

Effect of sonic hedgehog/β-TCP composites on bone healing within the critical-sized rat femoral defect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The creation of entirely synthetically derived bone substitute materials which are as effective as autologous bone grafts is desirable. Osteogenesis involves the concerted action of several proteins within a signaling cascade.

Analysis of remodeling and resorption rate of OsteoAMP bone allograft in LeFort midface reconstruction and malar augmentation

open access: yesOral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cases, 2022
Osteo allogenic morphogenetic protein (OsteoAMP) is an allogenic morphogenetic protein derived from bone allograft through a novel tissue processing technique.

Protein associated with SMAD1 (PAWS1/FAM83G) is a substrate for type I bone morphogenetic protein receptors and modulates bone morphogenetic protein signalling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) control multiple cellular processes in embryos and adult tissues. BMPs signal through the activation of type I BMP receptor kinases, which then phosphorylate SMADs 1/5/8.

Adsorption and release of BMP-2 on nanocrystalline apatite-coated and uncoated hydroxyapatite/b-tricalcium phosphate porous ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The association of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) with calcium phosphate bioceramics is known to confer them osteoinductive properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the surface properties, especially regarding recombinant human BMP-2 (rhBMP-

Association of bone morphogenetic protein-4 gene polymorphism with periodontitis in a Taiwanese population

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2013
Background/purpose: Bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4) plays an important role during embryonic development of tooth and bone. Studies have found that the BMP-4 polymorphism rs17563 (T>C) influenced bone loss around implants; however, its impact on ...
