Nanomedicine applications in lymphoma: Advancing precision diagnostics, targeted therapeutics, and prospective developments

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Lymphoma is a group of blood cancers that can appear in lymph nodes, blood, bone marrow, spleen, liver, or the central nervous system, which makes drug delivery and disease monitoring difficult. This review summarizes how nanomedicine technologies may improve targeted treatment and imaging, while carefully separating approved or guideline‐supported ...

ANGPTL4 exacerbates pancreatitis by augmenting acinar cell injury through upregulation of C5a

open access: yesEMBO Molecular Medicine, 2020
Pancreatitis is the inflammation of the pancreas. However, little is known about the genes associated with pancreatitis severity. Our microarray analysis of pancreatic tissues from mild and severe acute pancreatitis mice models identified angiopoietin ...

Solvent‐free thallium(I) tetrakis[3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate: crystal structure, supramolecular interactions and anisotropic thermal expansion

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section C, EarlyView.
The solvent‐free structure of the thallium(I) salt of the weakly coordinating anion tetrakis[3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate, Tl[BC32H12F24], exhibits short Tl…F contacts and a supramolecular architecture governed by C—H…F hydrogen bonds and weak F…F and C—F…π interactions.

Blockade of the C5a receptor fails to protect against experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in rats

open access: yes, 2004
Complement activation contributes to inflammation and tissue damage in human demyelinating diseases and in rodent models of demyelination. Inhibitors of complement activation ameliorate disease in the rat model antibody-dependent experimental autoimmune ...

Schwann cell C5aR1 co-opts inflammasome NLRP1 to sustain pain in a mouse model of endometriosis

open access: yesNature Communications
Over 60% of women with endometriosis experience abdominopelvic pain and broader pain manifestations, including chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, vulvodynia, and migraine.

IL‐33 Drives Inflammatory Changes and Extracellular Trap Formation in Eosinophils Involving Oxidised LDL and Complement Pathways

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
IL‐33 induces inflammatory gene signatures in eosinophils, characterised by the upregulation of cell surface markers, inflammatory mediators and regulatory factors, all of which were also observed in nasal polyp‐derived eosinophils. Ox‐LDL and complement fragments (C3a and C5a) promote eosinophil adhesion and survival.

Development of complement C5a and its receptor in malignant tumour cells as mammary tumour biomarker [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mammary cancer is the most common disease among women and second cause of female mortality related to cancer. The relationship between immune system and mammary cancer is still questionable.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis: pathogenesis and clinical manifestations

open access: yesСовременная ревматология
This literature review addresses the epidemiology, genetic markers, pathogenesis, clinical features, and diagnostic approaches of granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis – both antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated ...

Basophils in Immunity: Activation Pathways, Roles in Allergy and AllergoOncology and Application of the Basophil Activation Test

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Basophils, the least abundant leukocytes, are increasingly recognised as potent immunomodulators. Upon activation, they rapidly release preformed granule‐associated mediators including histamine and lipid mediators such as LTC4, while cytokine production occurs over a longer timescale, contributing to downstream immune responses.

Complement component 5a (C5a)

open access: yes, 2009
The 74 amino acid glycoprotein, complement component 5a (C5a), is a potent pro-inflammatory mediator cleaved enzymatically from its precursor, C5, upon activation of the complement cascade.
