Physiologically-Based Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamics Model Characterizing CYP2C19 Polymorphisms to Predict Clopidogrel Pharmacokinetics and Its Anti-Platelet Aggregation Effect Following Oral Administration to Coronary Artery Disease Patients With or Without Diabetes

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
Background and Objective: Clopidogrel (CLOP) is commonly used in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients with or without diabetes (DM), but these patients often suffer CLOP resistance, especially those with diabetes.

Tolerability and Feasibility of Minimally Invasive Canine Skin Sampling: Excellent Tolerability Meets Transcriptomic Challenges

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 3, Page 375-385, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Advances in transcriptomics have driven the demand for minimally invasive, reproducible and high‐yield skin sampling methods, particularly for studying inflammatory skin diseases in companion animals. Hypothesis/Objectives We tested tolerability, feasibility and RNA quantity and quality of three minimally invasive skin sampling ...

Pharmacogenetic and Clinical Predictors of Clopidogrel Insufficiency in a Patient with Atherosclerosis Obliterans of the Lower Extremities: Clinical Case

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2018
The considered clinical case of combination of multifocal atherosclerotic vascular lesion with type 2 diabetes mellitus and liver fibrosis demonstrates a combination of polyvalent risk factors  for resistance to antiplatelet therapy with clopidogrel. The

Detection of Diagnostic Antibodies in Immune‐Mediated Diseases: A Focus on Antigens and Technologies

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 9, 14 May 2026.
This review explores autoantibody detection in immune‐mediated diseases, highlighting autoantigens including post‐translational modifications. We compared enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay and indirect immunofluorescence with automated chemiluminescence platforms.

Quantitative Analysis Reveals Hitchhiking Drives Polysorbate Hydrolase Persistence Via Host Cell Protein–Antibody Interactions

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 5, Page 1224-1235, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Polysorbate‐degrading host cell proteins (HCPs) represent a critical challenge in the manufacturing of monoclonal antibody therapeutics due to their potential to persist during downstream processing. While their enzymatic activity has been characterized, the role of direct HCP‐mAb interactions, particularly those involving polysorbate ...

Predicting the Effects of CYP2C19 and Carboxylesterases on Vicagrel, a Novel P2Y12 Antagonist, by Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic Modeling Approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
Vicagrel, a novel acetate derivative of clopidogrel, exhibits a favorable safety profile and excellent antiplatelet activity. Studies aim at identifying genetic and non-genetic factors affecting vicagrel metabolic enzymes Cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19 ...

Large mammal recovery in the wake of human population decline

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Human depopulation, particularly in rural areas, has contributed to the recovery of some large mammal populations. While recovery is generally good news for conservation, it can also lead to human‐wildlife conflict. We present several avenues to maximize coexistence in the face of further rural depopulation in other places. Read the free Plain Language

Bioactive lipid metabolism by carboxylesterase 1 (CES1) in macrophages (LB154)

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2014
Human carboxylesterases (CES) have an emerging role in lipid metabolism. CES1 in macrophages is a hydrolase with broad endogenous substrate specificity, including cholesteryl ester, triacylglycerol, and 2‐arachidonoylglycerol (2‐AG), which may be relevant to cardiovascular disease and other pathologies related to lipid metabolism dysfunction.

Effect of selected variables on CES1 mRNA expression level in adipose tissue.

open access: yes, 2013
The statistical model is: ln(CES1 mRNA level) = age+gender+BMI. The regression coefficient expresses the change in the response variable associated with an increase of one unit in an explanatory variable.

Carboxylesterase 1-mediated endocannabinoid metabolism in skin: role in melanoma progression in BRaf V600E /Pten −/− mice

open access: yesCancer & Metabolism
Background Melanoma is a highly aggressive skin cancer with a poor prognosis. The endocannabinoids 2-arachidonoylgylcerol (2-AG) and anandamide have been linked to melanoma progression, though their roles remain unclear.
