Advancing Extracellular Vesicle Research: A Review of Systems Biology and Multiomics Perspectives

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane‐bound vesicles secreted by various cell types into the extracellular space and play a role in intercellular communication. Their molecular cargo varies depending on the cell of origin and its functional state.

A highly abundant circular RNA from the RMST locus plays a role in posterior fossa ependymoma pathogenesis

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
circRMST (hsa_circ_0099634) is by far the most abundant isoform from the RMST locus. It is highly expressed in cancer cells throughout ependymoma patient samples and is located in the cytoplasm. circRMST knockdown causes cell cycle arrest and induces differentiation, and it is a marker for poor prognosis. The figure is made using BioRender.

The RNA workbench: Best practices for RNA and high-throughput sequencing bioinformatics in Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
RNA-based regulation has become a major research topic in molecular biology. The analysis of epigenetic and expression data is therefore incomplete if RNA-based regulation is not taken into account. Thus, it is increasingly important but not yet standard
