Benzoic acid inhibits Coenzyme Q biosynthesis in Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
Coenzyme Q (CoQ, ubiquinone) is an essential component of the electron transport system in aerobic organisms. Human type CoQ10, which has 10 units of isoprene in its quinone structure, is especially valuable as a food supplement.

Preparation of Neurospora crassa mitochondria [PDF]
The fungus Neurospora crassa represents a eukaryotic cell with high biosynthetic activities. Cell mass doubles in 2-4 hr during expone ntial growth , even in simple salt media with sucrose as the sole carbon source. The microorgani sm forms a mycelium of

We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.
