Do Stimulants Promote Arrhythmic Risk: Insights From a Human‐Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Cardiomyocyte Model

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
At clinically relevant plasma concentrations, stimulant medications produced minimal effects on conduction velocity but modulated automaticity and repolarization in a hiPSC‐derived cardiomyocyte (hiPSC‐CM) model. These findings provide a foundation for future investigations of stimulant‐associated cardiac safety and support the utility of hiPSC‐CM ...

Myelin Impairment and Regeneration in the Central Nervous System: Molecular Mechanisms, Diseases, and Prospective Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Proper myelin formation is crucial for normal neural circuit function, while myelin deficiency can lead to neural circuit dysfunction and cognitive decline, notably in Alzheimer's disease and other central nervous system demyelinating disorders. This review summarizes central myelin's structure and function, demyelination biomarkers and pathological ...

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 75, 17 September 2026.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

The Gap Junction Proteins β1-Connexin (Connexin-32) and β2-Connexin (Connexin-26) Can Form Heteromeric Hemichannels

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1995
Two different types of gap junction proteins, beta 1- and beta 2-connexin, were expressed in insect cells, either singly or together, using infection with recombinant baculovirus. Membrane fractions enriched in gap junction proteins were isolated, and connexons (hemichannels) were solubilized with detergent.

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 35, 18 September 2026.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Screening of Autosomal Recessive Non-Syndromic Hearing Loss gor GJB2 Mutations

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation, 2004
Objective: Hereditary Hearing loss (HHL) affects one in 1000-2000 newborns and more than 50% of these cases, the loss has a genetic basis. About 70% of HHL is non-syndromic with autosomal recessive forms accounting for ~85% of the genetic load.
