In type 1 diabetes a subset of anti-coxsackievirus B4 antibodies recognize autoantigens and induce apoptosis of pancreatic beta cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Type 1 diabetes is characterized by autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells. The role played by autoantibodies directed against beta cells antigens in the pathogenesis of the disease is still unclear. Coxsackievirus B infection has been linked to

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.

Structural Insight into CVB3-VLP Non-Adjuvanted Vaccine

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
Coxsackievirus B (CVB) enteroviruses are common pathogens that can cause acute and chronic myocarditis, dilated cardiomyopathy, aseptic meningitis, and they are hypothesized to be a causal factor in type 1 diabetes.

Myocarditis and fulminant hepatic failure from coxsackievirus B infection [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1985
Summary A case of fulminant hepatic failure in association with myocarditis is reported. Presentation suggested an acute hepatitis which was complicated by cardiac failure. Evidence of severe myocarditis was found at autopsy.

Rational Design of Broad‐Spectrum Anti‐Enteroviral Molecular Glues Targeting Enteroviral RNAi Suppressors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging this homodimerization mechanism, molecular glues were rationally designed to induce dysfunctional 3A dimerization, thereby restoring antiviral RNAi. The optimal molecular glue, VTP‐32, demonstrated potent and pan‐enterovirus (groups A, B, D) antiviral effects.

The Role of miRNAs in Chicken Immune Regulation and Prospects for Disease‐Resistant Breeding

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A schematic workflow illustrating the screening of disease‐resistant miRNAs and the generation of miRNA‐based disease‐resistant chickens via PGC‐mediated germline genome editing. ABSTRACT MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators of the immune system, playing a decisive role in shaping disease resistance in chicken.

Construction of the Multi-Epitope HFMD Vaccine Based on an Attenuated CVB3 Vector and Evaluation of Immunological Responses in Mice

open access: yesVaccines
Background/Objectives: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a major public health concern primarily caused by human enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), coxsackievirus A16 (CVA16), coxsackievirus A6 (CVA6), and certain coxsackievirus B serotypes.

Involvement of Pattern Recognition Receptors in Coxsackievirus B Infection of Human Islets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
T1DM is an autoimmune disease in which beta-cells are selectively destroyed by the immune system. As consequence of beta-cell destruction insulin levels decline resulting in elevated blood glucose levels.

Increased gelatinase B/matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) activity in a murine model of acute coxsackievirus B4-induced pancreatitis

open access: yes, 2008
Infection of mice with coxsackievirus B4 results within days in a severe acute necrotizing pancreatitis, which resolves completely within weeks. Gelatinase B or matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) has previously been shown to be involved in several models
