NIR‐Responsive Gold Nanorod Capsules for Efficient Cargo Encapsulation and Release

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Mini‐gold nanorods modified with oligo(ethylene glycol) ligands self‐assemble into plasmonic nanocapsules through a solute‐induced phase separation process. Subsequent crosslinking with bifunctional polyethylene glycol improves aqueous stability while preserving efficient cargo encapsulation and near‐infrared (NIR)‐triggered release.

Biomolecular Interaction Prediction in the Pre‐ and Post‐AlphaFold Era: The 8th CAPRI Evaluation

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 94, Issue 11, Page 1813-1826, November 2026.
ABSTRACT We report on the 8th CAPRI Evaluation period, capturing the assessment of CAPRI Rounds 47 to 55 (excluding the CASP and COVID‐related Rounds), which have witnessed the transition to AI‐driven prediction tools such as AlphaFold and related alternatives. The prediction Rounds in this evaluation are characterized by a high level of difficulty due

The big chill: Growth of in situ structural biology with cryo-electron tomography

open access: yesQRB Discovery
In situ structural biology with cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and subtomogram averaging (StA) is evolving as a major method to understand the structure, function, and interactions of biological molecules in cells in a single experiment.

Stimuli‐Responsive Hierarchical Structuring Controls Survival and Programs Hydrogelation of Supramolecular Metallofibers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 56, 8 October 2026.
Aqueous Zn(II) Salphen metallofibers decorated with PNIPAM undergo reversible, multi‐stimuli‐responsive hierarchical bundling. This higher‐order structuring kinetically stabilizes the otherwise fragile assemblies against dilution, acidic hydrolysis, and transmetallation, enables selective sorting of responsive fibers, and programs hydrogelation at ...
