The multiple actions of grape and its polyphenols on female reproductive processes with an emphasis on cell signalling

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
Grapes are an economically important fruit crop, and their polyphenols (mainly phenolic acids, flavanols, flavonols, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, and stilbenes) can exert a wide range of health benefits as an interesting and valuable dietary ...

Administration of Delphinidin to Improve Survival and Neurological Outcome in Mice After Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation

open access: yesAntioxidants
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) after cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA-CPR). Early administration of vitamin C at a high dose in experimental models resulted in less myocardial damage

Theoretical Investigation of Antiradical Activity of Delphinidin

open access: yes, 2015
Delphinidin, one of the natural anthocyanin pigments was theoretically (at M05-2X/6-311+G(d,p) level of theory) investigated for its ability scavange potentially highly damaging hydroxyl and superoxide anion radicals. Theoretical calculations point to HAT and SPLET mechanisms as operative for delphinidin in all solvents under investigations.

Scientific Opinion on a notification (reference C/NL/09/02) for the placing on the market of the genetically modified carnation IFD‐26407‐2 with a modified colour, for import of cut flowers for ornamental use, under Part C of Directive 2001/18/EC from Florigene

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2014
Genetically modified (GM) carnation IFD‐26407‐2 was developed to express anthocyanins in the petals conferring a mauve colour to the flowers. The GM carnation is intended to be imported in the European Union as cut flower for ornamental use only.

The Survival of Human Intervertebral Disc Nucleus Pulposus Cells under Oxidative Stress Relies on the Autophagy Triggered by Delphinidin

open access: yesAntioxidants
Delphinidin (Delp), a natural antioxidant, has shown promise in treating age-related ailments such as osteoarthritis (OA). This study investigates the impact of delphinidin on intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) using human nucleus pulposus cells ...
