Delphinidin and Its Glycosides’ War on Cancer: Preclinical Perspectives [PDF]
Until now, several studies have looked at the issue of anthocyanin and cancer, namely the preventive and inhibitory effects of anthocyanins, as well as the underlying molecular processes. However, no targeted review is available regarding the anticarcinogenic effects of delphinidin and its glycosides on various cancers and their plausible molecular ...

Effect of Delphinidin on Metabolomic Profile in Breast Carcinogenesis
Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2022Background: Breast cancer is a malignant tumor which threat to women’s physical and mental health. Delphinidin, one of the main anthocyanidins, has potent anti-cancer properties. In previous study, we found that delphinidin has the preventive role in MNU-induced breast carcinogenesis of rats, but the molecular mechanism by which delphinidin combats ...

Antioxidant activity of delphinidin and pelargonidin: Theory and practice
Journal of Food Biochemistry, 2022The quantum chemical density functional theory and in vitro chemical-based antioxidant assays were used to research the reaction mechanism of delphinidin/pelargonidin with free radicals including superoxide anion radicals (O2 - ∙) and hydroperoxide radicals (OOH∙). The geometric configuration, bond dissociation energy, PCM (polarizable continuum model)

Molecular Structure and Antioxidant Properties of Delphinidin
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008Density functional theory calculations were performed to evaluate the antioxidant activity of delphinidin, taking into account its acid/base equilibrium. The conformational behavior of both the isolated and the aqueous solvation species (simulated with the polarizable continuum model) were analyzed at the B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p) level, considering the ...

Delphinidin Increases the Sensitivity of Ovarian Cancer Cell Lines to 3-bromopyruvate [PDF]
3-Bromopyruvic acid (3-BP) is a promising anticancer compound. Two ovary cancer (OC) cell lines, PEO1 and SKOV3, showed relatively high sensitivity to 3-BP (half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 18.7 and 40.5 µM, respectively). However, the further sensitization of OC cells to 3-BP would be desirable.

Acylated delphinidin glycosides in the blue-violet flowers of Consolida armeniaca
Phytochemistry, 1996Four new acylated delphinidin 3,7-glycosides were isolated from the blue-violet flowers of Consolida armeniaca as major anthocyanin pigments. The first pigment was based on delphinidin 3,7-diglucoside and was identified as delphinidin 3-O-[6-O-(malonyl)-beta-D-glucopyranoside]-7-O- [6-O-(4-O-(6-O-(p-hydroxybenzoyl)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-p ...

The Multifunctional Benefits of Naturally Occurring Delphinidin and Its Glycosides
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2019Delphinidin (Del) and its glycosides are water-soluble pigments, belonging to a subgroup of flavonoids. They are health-promoting candidates for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical uses, as indicated by exhibiting antioxidation, anti-inflammation, antimicroorganism, antidiabetes, antiobesity, cardiovascular protection, neuroprotection, and anticancer ...

Blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin System with Delphinidin, Cyanin, and Quercetin
Planta Medica, 2012Overactivation of the renin-angiotensin system is one of the most important risk factors for the development of hypertension. The use of the crude extracts and/or active compounds, such as anthocyanins and quercetin, of herbal plants that have antihypertensive effects is beneficial for decreasing of blood pressure level.
