Potentiation of naphthoxyloside cytotoxicity on human tumor cells by difluoromethylornithine and spermine-NONOate.

open access: yes, 2009
Here we demonstrate a synergistic and tumor selective cytotoxic effect by combined treatment with naphthoxylosides, polyamine synthesis inhibitor, and polyamine based nitric oxide (NO) donor, using in vitro human tumor models.

Critical roles of Myc-ODC axis in the cellular transformation induced by myeloproliferative neoplasm-associated JAK2 V617F mutant. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The acquired mutation (V617F) of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) is observed in the majority of patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). In the screening of genes whose expression was induced by JAK2 (V617F), we found the significant induction of c-Myc ...

Inhibition of human ornithine decarboxylase activity by enantiomers of difluoromethylornithine [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 2003
Racemic difluoromethylornithine (d/l-DFMO) is an inhibitor of ODC (ornithine decarboxylase), the first enzyme in eukaryotic polyamine biosynthesis. d/l-DFMO is an effective anti-parasitic agent and inhibitor of mammalian cell growth and development. Purified human ODC-catalysed ornithine decarboxylation is highly stereospecific.

Insight into the functional and structural relationship of ornithine decarboxylase and its mutants from Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, Volume 46, Issue 7, Page 730-742, July 2025.
Structural and functional analysis of Lactaseibacillus rhamnosus ODC highlights a key residue influencing PLP binding, enzymatic activity, and crystal structure, providing insight into its catalytic mechanism. Abstract Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is a critical enzyme in the polyamine biosynthesis pathway that catalyzes the conversion of l‐ornithine ...
