Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Validated Negative Regions (VNRs) in the VISTA Database might be Truncated Forms of Bona Fide Enhancers

open access: yesAdvanced Genetics
The VISTA enhancer database is a valuable resource for evaluating predicted enhancers in humans and mice. In addition to thousands of validated positive regions (VPRs) in the human and mouse genomes, the database also contains similar numbers of ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

РАСКРЫТИЕ РЕГУЛЯТОРНОГО ПОТЕНЦИАЛА МИКРОСАТЕЛЛИТНЫХ ПОСЛЕДОВАТЕЛЬНОСТЕЙ IN SILICO В GLYCINE MAX (L.) MERR.

open access: yesJournal of Bioinformatics and Genomics
Цель проделанной нами работы состояла в выявлении регуляторного потенциала микросателлитной некодирующей ДНК в отношении экспрессии генов. SSRs (Simple Sequence Repeats), в настоящее время используются для картирования и поиска генов, определения родства,

Quantitative perturbation-based analysis of gene expression predicts enhancer activity in early Drosophila embryo

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Enhancers constitute one of the major components of regulatory machinery of metazoans. Although several genome-wide studies have focused on finding and locating enhancers in the genomes, the fundamental principles governing their internal architecture ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
