A PURIFIED GROUP A STREPTOCOCCAL PYROGENIC EXOTOXIN [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1970
Purified pyrogenic exotoxin from Group A streptococcal filtrates (Streptococcus pyogenes, type 10, strain NY-5) has been characterized primarily as a protein complexed with hyaluronic acid. Amino acid composition and analysis revealed a typical acidic protein with an average molecular weight of 29,000.

"Alternative" endocytic mechanisms exploited by pathogens: new avenues for therapeutic delivery? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Some pathogens utilize unique routes to enter cells that may evade the intracellular barriers encountered by the typical clathrin-mediated endocytic pathway.

A nontoxicPseudomonas exotoxin a induces active immunity and passive protective antibody againstPseudomonas exotoxin a intoxication

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science, 1999
Pseudomonas exotoxin A (PE) is one of the most potent cytotoxic agents produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In this study, we examined the possibility of using PE with a deletion of 38 carboxyl-terminal amino acid residues, designated PE(Delta576-613), for active immunization against PE-mediated disease.

Syntaxin 16 and syntaxin 5 are required for efficient retrograde transport of several exogenous and endogenous cargo proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Retrograde transport allows proteins and lipids to leave the endocytic pathway to reach other intracellular compartments, such as trans-Golgi network (TGN)/Golgi membranes, the endoplasmic reticulum and, in some instances, the cytosol. Here, we have used

Identification of beta-exotoxin production, plasmids encoding beta-exotoxin, and a new exotoxin in Bacillus thuringiensis by using high-performance liquid chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1990
An improved high-performance liquid chromatography separation was developed to detect and quantify beta-exotoxin production in Bacillus thuringiensis culture supernatants. Exotoxin production was assigned to a plasmid in five strains, from three subspecies (B. thuringiensis subsp. thuringiensis serotype 1, B. thuringiensis subsp.

Pseudomonas Exotoxin-Based Immunotoxins: Over Three Decades of Efforts on Targeting Cancer Cells With the Toxin

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
Cancer is one of the prominent causes of death worldwide. Despite the existence of various modalities for cancer treatment, many types of cancer remain uncured or develop resistance to therapeutic strategies.
