Analysis of Xyloglucan Fucosylation in Arabidopsis

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2003
AbstractXyloglucan (XyG) is a load-bearing primary wall component in dicotyledonous and non-graminaceous monocotyledonous plants. XyG fucosyltransferase (FUTase), encoded by the Arabidopsis gene AtFUT1, directs addition of fucose (Fuc) residues to terminal galactose residues on XyG side chains.

Fucosylated Glycoproteins as Markers of Liver Disease [PDF]

open access: yesDisease Markers, 2008
Changes in N‐linked glycosylation are known to occur during the development of various diseases. For example, increased branching of oligosaccharides has been associated with cancer metastasis and has been correlated to tumor progression in human cancers of the breast, colon and melanomas.

Post‐Translational Regulation of CD8+ T Cell Fate and Dysfunction in Tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates how post‐translational modifications (PTMs) function as a central regulatory interface governing CD8+ T cell activation, differentiation, persistence, and exhaustion in antitumor immunity. By integrating antigenic, metabolic, and microenvironmental cues, diverse PTM programs coordinate transcriptional and chromatin states that ...

Fucosylation Promotes Cytolytic Function and Accumulation of NK Cells in B Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Natural killer (NK) cells have been demonstrated as a promising cellular therapy as they exert potent anti-tumor immune responses. However, applications of NK cells to tumor immunotherapy, especially in the treatment of advanced hematopoietic and solid ...

CSF‐Compartmentalized Antibody Glycoprofiles in NMDAR Encephalitis Associate with Etiology and Functional Recovery

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To characterize Fc‐glycosylation profiles in patients with anti‐N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate receptor encephalitis (NMDARe) and assess their association with antibody compartmentalization (cerebrospinal fluid [CSF] vs serum), disease triggers (viral, tumor‐related or idiopathic), and 1‐year outcomes.

Core fucosylation regulates the ovarian response via FSH receptor during follicular development

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Research
Introduction: Ovarian low response to follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) causes infertility featuring hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, ovarian failure, and/or defective ovarian response.

O-Fucosylation Is Required for ADAMTS13 Secretion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
ADAMTS13 is a plasma metalloproteinase that cleaves von Willebrand factor to smaller, less thrombogenic forms. Deficiency of ADAMTS13 activity in plasma leads to thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. ADAMTS13 contains eight thrombospondin type 1 repeats (TSR), seven of which contain a consensus sequence for the direct addition of fucose to the hydroxyl ...

Milk: Nature's Unique Nutritional Package

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant‐based beverages that attempt to mimic milk are increasingly popular with consumers, but there are profound differences in nutritional composition and microstructure compared to milk. A structural nutrition approach is needed to understand the effect on digestibility of microstructures, bioaccessibility and bioavailability of components ...

Novel function of pregnancy-associated plasma protein A: promotes endometrium receptivity by up-regulating N-fucosylation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Glycosylation of uterine endometrial cells plays important roles to determine their receptive function to blastocysts. Trophoblast-derived pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA) is specifically elevated in pregnant women serum, and is known to ...

Expanding the Toolbox for Inducible Protein Expression With Automation‐enabled Generation of Glycomimetics

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Inducible protein expression is a cornerstone of many aspects of industrial and molecular biotechnological processes. 2′‐fucosyl isopropyl‐β‐D‐thiogalactopyranose (2′F‐IPTG) and 2′‐fucosyl isobutyl‐C‐galactoside (2′F‐IBCG) mimics were explored for protein expression studies.
