Analysis of Xyloglucan Fucosylation in Arabidopsis

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2003
AbstractXyloglucan (XyG) is a load-bearing primary wall component in dicotyledonous and non-graminaceous monocotyledonous plants. XyG fucosyltransferase (FUTase), encoded by the Arabidopsis gene AtFUT1, directs addition of fucose (Fuc) residues to terminal galactose residues on XyG side chains.

FUT8 and Protein Core Fucosylation in Tumours: From Diagnosis to Treatment

open access: yesJournal of Cancer, 2021
Glycosylation changes are key molecular events in tumorigenesis, progression and glycosyltransferases play a vital role in the this process. FUT8 belongs to the fucosyltransferase family and is the key enzyme involved in N-glycan core fucosylation.

Effects of microRNAs on fucosyltransferase 8 (FUT8) expression in hepatocarcinoma cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Fucosyltransferase 8 (FUT8) catalyzes the transfer of α1,6-linked fucose to the first N-acetylglucosamine in N-linked glycans (core fucosylation). Increased core fucosylation has been reported during hepatocarcinogenesis, in both cell-associated and ...

A genetic screen in Drosophila reveals the role of fucosylation in host susceptibility to Candida infection

open access: yesDisease Models & Mechanisms, 2022
Candida infections constitute a blind spot in global public health as very few new anti-fungal drugs are being developed. Genetic surveys of host susceptibilities to such infections using mammalian models have certain disadvantages in that obtaining ...

An all‐in‐one fucosylated gold nanocluster probe enables NIR‐II imaging and multi‐mechanistic therapy of acute kidney injury

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This study developed a fucoside‐targeted gold nanocluster probe that enables early NIR‐II imaging and multi‐mechanistic therapy for acute kidney injury, effectively mitigating oxidative stress, modulating inflammatory responses, and inhibiting ferroptosis to improve renal outcomes. Abstract Acute kidney injury (AKI) remains a life‐threatening condition

Fut2 Deficiency Promotes Intestinal Stem Cell Aging by Damaging Mitochondrial Functions via Down-Regulating α1,2-Fucosylation of Asah2 and Npc1

open access: yesResearch
Fut2-mediated α1,2-fucosylation is important for gut homeostasis, including the intestinal stem cell (ISC). The stemness of ISC declines with age, and aging-associated ISC dysfunction is closely related to many age-related intestinal diseases.

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomal miR-34c-5p ameliorates RIF by inhibiting the core fucosylation of multiple proteins

open access: yesMolecular Therapy, 2021
Renal interstitial fibrosis (RIF) is an incurable pathological lesion in chronic kidney diseases. Pericyte activation is the major pathological characteristic of RIF. Fibroblast and macrophage activation are also involved in RIF.

Mass Spectrometry Insights Into Post‐Translational Modifications in Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane‐enclosed structures secreted by virtually all living cells, serving as essential mediators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological processes. There is growing interest in their potential applications as biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and drug delivery systems, which ...

Total Chemical Synthesis of Interleukin‐15 and Interleukin‐2: Taming Protein Hydrophobicity and Aggregation by a Versatile Solubilizing Strategy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 30, 20 July 2026.
A reducible solubilizing tag strategy (RST‐2.0) enables the synthesis, purification and ligation of difficult peptides while being readily removable just during folding, which overcomes the common challenges from protein hydrophobicity and aggregation. With this method, we achieved the first total synthesis of native and N‐glycosylated IL‐15 as well as

NF-κB Signaling Is Regulated by Fucosylation in Metastatic Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2020
A growing body of evidence indicates that the levels of fucosylation correlate with breast cancer progression and contribute to metastatic disease. However, very little is known about the signaling and functional outcomes that are driven by fucosylation.
