Enhanced Andreev reflection in gapped graphene [PDF]
We theoretically demonstrate unusual features of superconducting proximity effect in gapped graphene which presents a pseudospin symmetry-broken ferromagnet with a net pseudomagnetization. We find that the presence of a band gap makes the Andreev conductance of graphene superconductor/pseudoferromagnet (S/PF) junction to behave similar to that of a ...

Role and Posttranslational Regulation of Cx46 Hemichannels and Gap Junction Channels in the Eye Lens
Connexins are a family of proteins that can form two distinct types of channels: hemichannels and gap junction channels. Hemichannels are composed of six connexin subunits and when open allow for exchanges between the cytoplasm and the extracellular ...

Time-reversal symmetry breaking at Josephson tunnel junctions of purely d-wave superconductors [PDF]
We study spontaneous time-reversal symmetry breaking at Josephson tunnel junctions of d-wave superconductors in the absence of subdominant components of the order parameter. For tunnel junctions, when the orientation is close to 0/45 (for which a gap lobe points towards the junction on one side and a gap node on the other), the mechanism of the ...

Degradation of connexins and gap junctions [PDF]
Connexin proteins are short‐lived within the cell, whether present in the secretory pathway or in gap junction plaques. Their levels can be modulated by their rate of degradation. Connexins, at different stages of assembly, are degraded through the proteasomal, endo‐/lysosomal, and phago‐/lysosomal pathways.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Metformin suppresses NFE2L1 pathway activation to inhibit gap junction beta protein expression in NSCLC. [PDF]
Objective Non‐small‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a deadly form of cancer that exhibits extensive intercellular communication which contributed to chemoradiotherapy resistance.

Gap junction regulation by calmodulin [PDF]
Intracellular Ca2+ activated calmodulin (CaM) inhibits gap junction channels in the low nanomolar to high micromolar range of [Ca2+]i. This regulation plays an essential role in numerous cellular processes that include hearing, lens transparency, and synchronized contractions of the heart. Previous studies have indicated that gap junction mediated cell‐

Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Scattering theory of superconductive tunneling in quantum junctions [PDF]
We present a consistent theory of superconductive tunneling in single-mode junctions within a scattering formulation of Bogoliubov-de Gennes quantum mechanics. Both dc Josephson effect and dc quasiparticle transport in voltage biased junctions are considered. Elastic quasiparticle scattering by the junction determines equilibrium Josephson current.
