An intracellular motif of GLUT4 regulates fusion of GLUT4-containing vesicles-4

open access: yes, 2011
Ned using ClustalX. The potential PtdOH binding motif SQWLxRML (shown by boxed region) is only found in GLUT4, located in the cytoplasmic loop between helices two and three.

Exercise serum increases GLUT4 in human adipocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
NEW FINDINGS: What is the central question of this study? Do circulating factors mediate exercise-induced effects on adipose tissue GLUT4 expression? What is the main finding and its importance?

Continuous glucose monitoring–guided management of capivasertib‐associated hyperglycemia: A case series of three patients

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) visualized cyclic glycemic fluctuations associated with the 4‐days‐on/3‐days‐off capivasertib schedule. Compared with off‐treatment days, dosing days showed higher mean sensor glucose, greater coefficient of variation (CV), more time above 250 mg/dL, and lower time in range (TIR; 70–180 mg/dL).

Regulation of GLUT4 gene expression by SREBP-1c in adipocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Expression of the GLUT4 (glucose transporter type 4 isoform) gene in adipocytes is subject to hormonal or metabolic control. In the present study, we have characterized an adipose tissue transcription factor that is influenced by fasting/refeeding ...

Diurnal Variation and Impairment of Postprandial Glucose‐Insulin Responses and Lipid Rhythms in Simulated Shift Work

open access: yesNutrition Bulletin, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Shift work is associated with insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia and metabolic syndrome, but how consecutive meals at the same clock times differentially shape postprandial metabolism in day‐ and night‐shifts remains unclear. This study used a unique simulated shift work intervention with four consecutive meals and high‐resolution sampling to ...

Mechanisms linking glucotoxicity to the development of insulin resistance: a role for the endoplasmic reticulum stress

open access: yes, 2010
Aims/hypothesis: Glucosamine, generated during hyperglycaemia, causes insulin resistance in different cells. Here we sought to evaluate the possible role of ER stress in the induction of insulin-resistance by glucosamine in skeletal muscle cells. Methods:

Dimethyl sulfoxide enhances GLUT4 translocation through a reduction in GLUT4 endocytosis in insulin-stimulated 3T3-L1 adipocytes.

open access: yes, 2011
International audienceInsulin increases muscle and fat cell glucose uptake by inducing the translocation of glucose transporter GLUT4 from intracellular compartments to the plasma membrane.

Efficacy of Exercise‐Based Interventions for Metabolic Syndrome: An Umbrella Review With Meta‐Analyses

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Regular exercise is a first‐line nonpharmacological strategy for managing metabolic syndrome (MetS), but varied exercise modalities and outcomes across studies have led to inconsistent findings that limit clinical guidance. Objective To synthesize up‐to‐date evidence on the efficacy of exercise‐based interventions in improving MetS ...

Glucose transporter 4 gene expression in peripheral blood leukocytes in type 2 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesBangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Journal, 2019
The purpose of this study was to examine the status of glucose transporter type-4 (GLUT4) gene expression in the peripheral blood leukocytes of type 2 diabetic patients and explore the correlation of GLUT4 expression with homeostasis model assessment ...
