Aim To investigate the effect of the gp130/STAT3-endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress axis on hepatocyte necroptosis during acute liver injury. Methods ER stress and liver injury in LO2 cells were induced with thapsigargin, and in BALB/c mice with ...

Exercise serum promotes DNA damage repair and remodels gene expression in colon cancer cells
What's New? Exercise releases bioactive molecules into the bloodstream that can directly slow cancer cell growth. In colon cancer, this may help limit disease progression. Here, using colon cancer cells, the authors investigated the effects of exercise‐conditioned human serum on DNA repair mechanisms. Notably, acute exercise in humans elicited systemic

A superhydrophobic 3D cell culture platform enables rapid and consistent formation of heterotypic tumor–stroma clusters, and reveals how physiological shear conditions influence metastatic signaling. Mechanical stimulation of cancer‐associated fibroblasts promotes sustained cytokine secretion and survival‐promoting pathways, showing how multicellular ...

Ironing Out the Mechanism of gp130 Signaling
gp130 functions as a shared signal-transducing subunit not only for interleukin (IL)-6 but also for eight other human cytokine receptor complexes. The IL-6 signaling pathway mediated through gp130 encompasses classical, trans, or cluster signaling, intricately regulated by a diverse array of modulators affecting IL-6, its receptor, and gp130. Currently,

In children with type 1 diabetes, serum oncostatin M is significantly elevated and strongly predicts poor glycemic control, while IL‐6 is associated with diabetic ketoacidosis. OSM demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy, suggesting its potential as a sensitive biomarker for early detection and monitoring of paediatric T1DM.

Autotaxin (ATX), which is highly expressed and secreted by adipocytes, functions as the key enzyme to generate lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) from lysophosphatidylcholine. Adipose tissue is the main source of circulating ATX that modulates plasma LPA levels.

A gp130–Src–YAP module links inflammation to epithelial regeneration [PDF]
Inflammation promotes regeneration of injured tissues through poorly understood mechanisms, some of which involve interleukin (IL)-6 family members, the expression of which is elevated in many diseases including inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal

ABSTRACT Background and Aim Janus kinases/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway is crucial for various stages of immunity, from innate to adaptive responses. Type 1 IFNs activate JAK/STAT pathway by binding to receptors on JAK, phosphorylating STAT and upregulating interferon‐stimulated genes (ISGs) leading to cytokines ...

Lack of gp130 expression in hepatocytes promotes liver injury
Background & Aims; Interleukin 6 (IL-6) contributes via its signal transducer gp130 to the acute phase response (APR) in hepatocytes. Recent studies indicated that IL-6 is involved in the regulation of different pathophysiologic conditions of the ...

Chronic Pain: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, and Clinical Management
The multidimensional nature of chronic pain is illustrated through four interconnected domains. (Left) Epidemiology and Global Burden: Chronic pain affects approximately one in five individuals globally, contributing to a rising trend in disability‐adjusted life years (YLDs) and a significant socioeconomic impact.
